Bought a invoice at a local supply store and was very unhappy with the design of the item. Looking for an invoice that fits the job of landscaping/lawn service. Any help on this topic...Thanks

You might want to check out http://www.nebs.com
I know they have a lot of stuff related to the industry.
Not sure how they compare on cost though to local establishments.

Make your own. It's much cheaper and you can get EXACTLY what you want customized for your company. You can go to http://search.officeupdate.microsoft.com/TemplateGallery/ct104.asp to get ideas. If you're looking for an accounting/billing program that will let you use plain paper for your invoices and statements try http://www.medlin.com I've been using their accounts receivable program since I got my first computer years ago. I've tried them all (clip, lawn monkey, quickbooks pro) and none of them are as easy to use or as customizable as the Medlin program. I've saved the best part for last, it's shareware so you can try it for free to see if you like it and if you do it's only $38 to register it. You'll love it.

For computer invoicing use your own design. If you need a handwritten one to keep in the truck for those cash sales pick up a book of Tops #4133 only place I can find them is at Suburban Stationers (Formerly total office products).

I asked a neighbor of a customer what their invoice looked like. I changed it to meet my needs and had them copied onto 2 part carbonless from a local typesetter. It has worked well for me. And I can customize them according to season if necessary.

What works great for me is an outside billing/accounts receivable service. I use "Grass" system from Obex Data Services. My time is too valuable to me to be tied to a PC, or do it manually. Inexpensive, too. Their phone # is 800 464 6239. You may have seen their ads in the green industry mags.

If you use a program like Quick Books you can use the pre designed ones or customize them its really easy.
NEBS are the only way to go for invoices they are the best....
Thanks to threads like this one, we have received several orders in the last few weeks who mentioned reading about us on this web site!

Am I able to customize to put different operations on the Medlin program? i.e. mowing, edging, shrubbery, etc.? Also can I detail the operations,- like add sidenotes? Please get back with me and let me know. I'm looking for a program to use, and time is running out. I was sent the LawnMonkey sample, and I can't make heads or tails of it.(no pun intended) They keep mentioning Quickbooks, as if I need THIS too. Thanks.

Runner,
One of the beauties of the Medlin program is that you can have as many "operations" codes as you want. These codes are chosen by you and can be for any operation you can think of. It's completely customizable by you to fit your way of working. Download the program and give it a try, it's free to try. Go to http://www.medlihn.com
We have a maximum of 1600 "sales codes". Sales codes are the "items" or jobs you do. You could have something like:
Weekly Service
Winter Fertlizer
Bi-Weekly Service
etc.
Each code can have a default price.
When entering the invoice, if you leave the amount as zero, the line is treated as an additional line of descriptive text. There can be up to 100 lines per invoice.
Mowerman90 is correct, download and give it a try. Takes less then 10 minutes to download. About 2 minutes to install. Enter a customer and try an invoice. The cost for our receivable/invoice program is $38.

I thought it was a good program, but I did not like the way the invoices came out. You couldn't use it for remittance forms..
Fax (707-255-9266) me a copy of the form and I will take a look.
Use excel or even word. Paste your logo on the sucker and outline all the do dad stuff like an address, amount, tax... blah blah. My friend used word and saved the template and just printed out two copys ( one for customer, one for him). What ever works. If you have a computer and I'm sure you do, then you most likely already have a microsoft application that you can already use.

I made an MS Word version of the nebs invoice I can post on my website when I get home from work if anyone is interested. Now I use my companies fonts so it may not look good without them. I'll post them up there as well.
