I believe I have narrowed my decision about a new bp blower to one of 2. I currently have Stihl Weedeater and chain saw and was leaning towards the Stihl so I would not have to have an extra gas mix possibility to carry around. But, if the spec's are correct the extra 1/3 cfm offered by the Shindawia is very attractive. The cost from my sources are not too far from each other, (stihl $400, Shindawia $465) anybody willing to push me one way or the other??

If it was me I'd get the stronger one, I have a br400 and it is bulletproof, but now that I have added a Red Max eb7000 to my collection the stihl never hardly gets cranked, I used it the other day and it felt WIMPY!!!

I feel the Red Max or Shindaiwa are both great blowers. From what I heard, they are the same engine. I have the Redmax EB6200 and it has 730 CFM and it will do the job in a hurry. What I like about the extra CFM is when you are trying to blow clippings off of wet concrete or blacktop. It does it in style. ;)
I went out to clean up our leaves today and I had left about a pint of gas in the tank from last fall. I primed it til I seen gas going back into the tank from the carb, put the choke on and pulled 2 times and it was running. It is such an easy starter and our Shindaiwa is the same way. You can't go wrong with either one.
My dealer told me if it doesn`t start on the second pull, something is wrong with it.
BTW, I moved this from the Business Forum to here. I figured it would get more posts here. ;)

I used a BR 400 for 3 years. I replaced it with the Shindaiwa 630. The new blower is much better. Easier to start and operate.

Go with the Shindy. I have a Stihl and an Echo. Wish I had a Shindy.

I watched on video a Shin. blower (Back pack) push or blow a three pound brick across a cement floor at a trade show...I've used both types and the shin...is the best...You should see local dealers and demo, demo ..etc...$400, lot of money not to be happy

I am just like Midsouth on this, my BR400 hardly ever gets cranked since the purchase of the EB630!
My friend has a Stihl BR400. I lent him my Shindaiwa eb630 for a big leaf job that he had. He said there was no comparison. He said that his next blower will be a Shindaiwa!

I have had 5 or 6 BR400's, I thought they were best, then I used the Shindaiwa :)

Decision made, Shindawia sounds like the One. Thanks everyone
I was at my dealer yesterday browsing at the backpacks and comparing some numbers.
It seems that Echo's PB603 has numbers comparable to the redmax 7000 does anyone have one or have used one? The echo came in at $80 less too.

I've always gotten great svc out of my BR400. Been using it for 6-7 yrs now but I think I'll ck out the Shindawa.

Beck, there is no real fair comparison just use them outside and I'll bet the Echo comes up short. It's probably as heavy as a boat too! And Dreamertex, you only need one can of 50:1 gas. Use stihl or Amsoil 100:1 mix, or Echo mix and you'll be fine.
I believed the echo weighed in at 19.3 lbs.

i just got a shindawia 630 and wow what a blower! almost blows as strong as my redmax 8000 but much better made and lighter. my br400 is still going but seems weak in comparison.

Like everyone else, I have a Shindiawa 630, had a Stihl BR400.
Sold my Stihl at the flea market. It was just sitting around the garage.

Have you tried the 600 by Stihl, most power I have seen.

This is interesting because it seems everyone is always promoting STIHL. I have the EB630RT and love it. I like it even more than my Weed Eater featherlite handheld blower although you have to use both to see the difference. :) My Shindaiwa always starts by the second pull, but usually starts first pull even when I barely pull. If you've already used it, it starts with barely any effort the rest of the day. All my shindaiwa stuff starts right off the bat and I NEVER prime them. Do you guys prime your equipment? THe trimmer is a little hard some times, second pull at half choke. I definetley recommed the EB630RT although I haven't use the STIHL. I have a friend who has a BR420 and he liked the Shin much better although there's a big difference. Well, that's my opinionizle fo rizzle Lcozles.

my br 400 has been ultra reliable and lasted 8 years so far but the shin 630 is just a all around better machine. i just might sell my redmax 8000! its just overkill for most jobs and too heavy for long term use. the shin seems to have just the right mix of weight to power and is so much better made.(yes i know its got a redmax 7000 engine)

That does not sound right the the 8000 is by far the best money making backpack I have used.;)

truthfully the 8000 is more blower that i really need. i got a very good deal on it and wanted to see what all the shouting about it was so to speak. yes its a monster but the sthil 400 was all i really needed till now anyway. i am spoiled by the big blowers now and the 400 seems almost weak in comparison. just for laughs i used my old redmax 431 for a week recently. now it really seemed weak comparied to the shin and 8000. i found my self getting frustrated at the extra time it took to blow

If the shindaiwa is anything like our redmax get it!
Though the redmax is really comfortable and has air conditioning for the user that basically blows air up your back so you stay cool. Does the shindaiwa have that?

Since I replied to this thread five years ago, I have had another Shindaiwa EB630 or two. This year I decided to buy a Redmax 7001. It's a heck of a blower too, but I believe I still like the Shindaiwa better. Not because of the power, but just a few little things.
