Heya Bri, i just read earlier on one of these posts i believe from my pal Kutnkru that its the k in 1000 when referring to turf. Instead of 10,000k/sf its 10,000 m/sf.

M= thousand
replaces the k

SF= sqaure feet
the total lawn area to be serviced

LF= lineal feet
how many feet in length

Hope this helps.

1000 = M(Roman numeral for 1000) = K(for kilo-, prefix meaning 1000)

M is a common useage, K is used more in scientific notation.

sf(kind of ambuguous) = sq.ft.(most common useage) = ft²(usually used in scientific notation) = square foot

Well, as they say, "When in Rome...(do as the romans do)"
Or, to say it another way, whatever, man! I wish I had a nickel for every customer that asks you that.

If Ida asked yall would have thought I was just a dumb redneck.............glad I got to FINALLY understand it! Never really seen it that way. If I had $10,000.00 to give you I would write it as 10K, not 10M, you would think I was giving you 10 million.

Maybe I am jes a ol stupid redneck.!

I'm like you Homer. After I finally figured the K out, They started the M thing. So I went to the dictionary. M can stand for meter, mile, or minute also. But K can also stand for karat.

I used to write it out 10,000 square feet and so on. This method will save both on the ink and the hands as well.

JUST USE K FOR PETE'S SAKE!!!!! You will not be questioned by customers and peers every time you use it. Why some people struggle so hard just to be a bit different is beyond me! Maybe it makes one feel edu-ma-cated to use the roman numerals.
