First year yard needs help!!

Need advice from the experts. Bear with me, I'm lawn care ignorant compared to most of you. Just built a home, this is my lawn's first year. There are small bare spots everywhere ranging from a couple inches in diameter to a couple of feet. What's the best way to thicken the grass up and fill these bare spots?

I know, I know............I'll use more seed next time. It seemed like a LOT at the time.

Just do a light overseeding and use a good starter fertilizer like Fertilome for instance. It will probably fill in on it's own but if you're in a hurry.... :D
