I have been asked to submit a bid on a duplex communinty in a really nice location. The owner is very dissatisfied with his current lco and rightfully so. There are 52 units as of today and 50 more under construction. I know what I am bidding the job at so I dont really need any help there, are biggest property as of now is a horse ranch which we mow 10 acres weekly. So I need help on things like, would it be easier to use a walkbehind edger or a stick edger because there is a tremendous amount of edging. There are no fences, shrubs, or flowerbeds and the duplexes are back to back so it is wide open between the houses in the back and will be easy to get the choppers on, but the front is a different story. The garages are between the houses so there is approx. a 20x20 patch of grass in front of each house, this would be easy if there were no cars in the drives and you could mow a block at a time, but that is not going to happen. So would 21's be the right choice for that or maybe a couple 36's or 48's?? I hope I have given enough info. if I have not let me know and I would gladley try to get you more.

Not quite sure of the situation BUT 21" are a lot cheaper than a 36" or 48" so thats where I would start. How many guys are gonna be working ? 2 -21 can cover as much if not more ground than 1- 48" under the right circumstances

400 square feet each area of turf, If you have employees ,21-INCH mowers would be perfect, less maintenance to perform, and a lot cheaper price tag then those 36 or 48-inch walks.
Stick edgers would do just fine; all we use anymore is Four-mix stick edgers.

there will be three guys working. Right now my equipment consists of the following, 1 60in. chopper, 1 36in. toro proline, 2 proline 21's and all of the two stroke equip. just wandering if the 21's would be sufficient or maybe buy another walkbehind. thanks for the reply mac.

Also do you guys think it is more efficient to have the three guys bust out all the mowing then start the edging and trimming or have two guys mowing and one start the edging and trimming.

Yes they would. I deal a lot with those stamp-sized plots in Chicago, and you can roll over those small plots very efficiently with 21-inch mowers.

2 mowing and 1 trimming or 2 using the 21" inchers if thats what you referring to by trimming.
