Most gas station are already out and where are you going to get 50 gallons at? Are here the limit is 10 gallon per vehicle per visit and there is as high as an hour wait time. The gas lines are unreal.

Yes, and it is already 3 or 4 days old by the time you get it.

So whats the point? Are you not wasting your money? Or will you ad fuel stabilizer?

Fuel stabilizer will help but the one mistake people make by using it they think it will last forever after they add the Fuel stabilizer it will not. I only extends the life to a few weeks to a month at best. And mistake #2 they make is they think it will bring gas back from the dead and it will not. Gas is made to self-destruct. All the chemicals in the gas fight each other and destroy the gas. I have often wondered if the gas companies did this not for better gas but to prevent people from stock piling it. I remember when you could take a gallon of gas screw the lid on tight and use it from one summer to the next with no problem and I am not that old. Now it does not matter how well it is sealed it will go bad because it is made to. I wonder how long gas in other parts of the world can last before it goes bad?

Yes, gas starts to break down in about a week. Depeneding on what you are using it in you can use it after that time. A timmer may not run a 10 day old gas but the mower will. The mower may not run on 2 or 3 week old gas but the car will. Temp and storeage and what it is being used in changes the usefull life of gas. Did you know that gas and you soda pop have something in commom? Soda has CO2 in it and it goes flat. Well gas has propane, butane and such in it. they leak out and the gas goes flat just like your soda

im not sure how long gas is made to last but i would think it is atleast a few weeks old but the time we get it.any way if i bought 200 gallons it would prob be gone in a couple of weeks any way.it was just an idea.

My trimmer and blower sat 5 months over winter no stabul and started and ran on the gas that was in them

My snowmobile sits 8 months over the summer and runs fine with the gas thats left over

Gas is good for a lot longer than a week but i would not store it for extream long periods

And to the above poster stabul keeps gas fresh for 6 months

Boutique fuels like we use in Maryland (and NJ) can start to degrade after 30 or so days but I have seen it run in trimmers, chainsaws and generators well after that period without the use of fuel stabilizer. Hell, it take me almost 5 weeks to run through a 5 gallon can of 2 stroke mix.

Gas can last years in a 55 gallon drum as long as it is airtight. If oxygen gets into the drum its over.

it takes weeks to get from the refinery to the pump sometimes,

my boat starts right up every spring after winter storage, year after year , never had a problem..

i would have a problem with lots of gas stored around my house KABOOM :p

On the other hand, hoarding fuel doesn't help alleviate the shortage, either.

I leave gas in both motorcycles over the winter---with or without stabilizer and they run fine on it the next spring.

I don't doubt gas breaks down and the smaller the carb jets the bigger the issue, but I just sold a truck that had gas in it for a year and it ran like a champ.

For cars, gas storage is no problem... sorry but the week timeline is a joke in that application.

I guess we in Texas are just lucky that we probably wont have any shortages. I am guessing quite a bit of the gas that gets trucked into the DFW metroplex is from Odessa and Midland. I am also very lucky that we still have gas for under $2.80. I paid $2.669 yesterday and $2.739 today for it.

No shortage, limits or lines here. Gas has been the same price the last 3 days and it only went up to $2.79 from $2.69 a few days back.

this is where the shortage should be, closest to the supposedly down pipelines, then this proves the whole thing is fake and just price gouging to get the man more money.... but i knew that all along...

does jeb bush have anything to do with this hahaahha :p
