I believe that I am too late to even to rent a location to sell the trees, but I am looking into it further. If I can't secure a location I will be looking to sell the trees next year. If youu cold fill me in on prices and minimum purchases of trees I would appreciated it. Thanks

I should sell trees. I have a 4 acre highly visible front yard in a nice neighborhood. I could easily set up and sell trees.

Who can hook me up with some info how to get started? If not this year maybe next. When we moved here it was the boonies but now there are hoods all around and growing like crazy.

Are you a grower/wholesaler?

we get our trees from Oregon, Portland mainly.
Normally in a reefer truck, somtimes a flatbed.
haha im sure if they came from back east they would be nice and crispy by the time they got here.

Guthrie&Co
09-26-2005, 11:14 AM
i am not allowed to share my tree pricing in the forums at all scince i am not a sponser. if i was a sponser it would be diffrent.
by the way its spelled ( not) instead of naught.

Meaning of NAUGHT

Definition: [n] complete failure; "all my efforts led to naught"
[n] a quantity of no importance; "it looked like nothing I had ever seen before"; "reduced to nil all the work we had done"; "we racked up a pathetic goose egg"; "it was all for naught"; "I didn't hear zilch about it"

i think you need to look around your area before buying any Christmas Trees.
how many folks already sell trees?
are there any cut your own joints in the area?
Home Depots? Lowes nearby? Nurseries? Flower shops?
find a good lot...location location location.
lot rent? whats the cost?
liability insurance? a must have.
a quality grower witin a reasonable distance.

labor? 12 hour days get pretty long, you may need a break.

most of this has been covered on here somewhere...just had to add to it.

Don't necessarily let the big box stores scare you out of a tree stand if you have a good location near one. Just sell higher quality trees.

I have worked for a company that had a stand for the past couple of years that is on a main road with one H/D 1/4 mile north and another 1 mile south along with 2 local stands with in 2 miles of us also.

This stand sells 750 trees along with grave blankets, wreaths etc. Sell out every year.

If you do it make sure you have stands, plastic bags etc. the convenience things that will make you another 5 bucks.

I was thinking about selling xmas trees in maryland how do I go about getting set up too

Guthrie&Co
10-27-2005, 01:06 AM
first thing you need to do is pick a lot out. then find a supplier, get the permits needed from local govmts, get equipment needed for the lot and then sell. thats pretty much it in a nutshell. the details vary from county to county.

if any of you guys have any questions please feel free to just pm me or send a email at anytime. i would be happy to help you guys out as much as i could.
