View Full Version : Anyone using an anemometer for measuring wind speed on site?

Looking at two different models, both under $100. Just wondering if anybody is using either one and how accurate they are. I know that Lesco sells a cheaper one for around $20 that uses a tube and a ball, but think I should have some a little better than that.

I use a Kestrel 3000 and I'm very happy with it. It was a bit dear at $129.50 but worth every cent. It does wind speed, temperature, wind chill, dew point, heat index and relative humidity. Got it from Gempler's. I'm saving up for the 4000 but as I just bought a new sprayer, that plan is on the back burner. We have an Ag Inspector out here who is a REAL wanker so it helps to have all the bells and whistles so he has no way of violating you. He tried to get me and couldn't find a bloody thing wrong.

Yeah...the 3000 is a bit more than I need. By law, only really need wind speed and direction. Therefore, the 1000 would suffice, but would like to know the temp and heat index out of curiousity. I am leaning towards the Skymate model though. I like the fold-up design of their model.
