that's the funniest thing I've heard in a long, long time.
If someone knows of true stain-resistant clothing, care to fill me in on some POWER equipment that doesn't consume a lot of fuel?
...
sorry i know it's off color, i just couldn't help myself.

Well, I have been wearing red shirts and grey shorts for years.
They don't show filth bad and they are very stain resistant.
So I have been pleased with those.
But, I have gone to lighter grey shorts, and they have really done reasonably well.
But they are all riddled with stains now that refuse to come out.
In addition, I have picked up several different canary yellow tees to try.
While they are cool and very high visibility....
I have also gotten several customer comments about how "covered in grass" I am...
As every little speck of grass that sticks to them stands out like a sore thumb.
Also, now after a few wears, I look like a green and yellow dalmation...
They grass stain like crazy.
So I was really hoping to see if someone could point me toward a certain brand or type of fabric before giving up the color scheme. It even seems to me that I could swear seeing some shirts tagged "Stain Guard" or something of the like in the past.
With all the members here, surely someone's uniform is yellow.....

Go to a GM dealership, and find out where they get their Mr. Goodwrench shirts. These are lighter grey and must be somewhat stain resistant, because they stay rather clean. If you can get a look, atleast maybe you can find out the materials they are made from and perhaps the manufacturer. I can tell you something else...if you called a uniform shop, they would be of great help to you. They would be happy to tell you what type of materials they use and why they are so stain resistant. Just an idea....

Envy, Runner mentioned about GM Goodwrench uniforms. Are they tied in with a local uniform supplier or is that a national thing? I don't have personal experience but a thought. Matt

Most regular uniform shirts are 65/35, polyester/cotton, and they are hotter than two rats "f 'n" in a wool sock.
Another thing to consider is that the "Goodwrench" shirts are cleaned with professional equipment by the uniform company.
On the weeks that I forgot to send my clothes in, and had to wash them at home, they never came out as clean and seemed to stink a little earlier in the day.
If you plan to use a uniform service, you may get away with your color scheme, my old light blue shirts came back pretty clean considering the way they looked when I dropped them off. (mechanic)

has a uniform service (aramark) my uniforms are dark gray pants and
I ususally wear a pocket t shirt k mart usually runs them for 4 to 5 for
$10.00 and they are fruit of the loom shirts so thats not a bad buy and
you can deduct the uniform service off your taxes. thinkin about getting printed t-shirts for next season

I'm an irrigator and I wear different colored shirts. When I wear a yellow shirt it ALWAYS seems that I'll have mud explode on me or accidently rub primer/glue on my shirt. When I wear a different color strange things don't seem to happen as much. :p

Bright yellow clothes are known to attract bees and hornets. I got stung 29 times earlier from an angry swarm, and am careful not to exite them now.

Thanks for everyone's replies.
I appreciate them all.
I'm to a point where I have almost given up on the yellow shirts.
What I was looking for was a tee or polo made of cool, stain resistant fabric, or one that was treated somehow.
What I ended up doing for the time being was just going green. It looks great, but my shirts are logo-free. The Lesco green is a sharp color... nothing remotely like what you see on their website. But at the same time, the Lesco green is a shade of it's own. It's close to many shades, but not the same. Shades such as John Deere green, athletic green, street sign green, ect...
So you can imagine it is hard to attain that neat look of uniformity I prefer. I finally ended up finding an acceptable color of green shirt at Old Navy. It's a blank single color tee, but a stylish one with a seam across the chest and so forth. The color and the fabric is not naturally real hot, but just like all Old Navy tees, the fabric itself is thin and very soft. So it gets sticky, clingy and hot as a result. Once this happens, the stylish design of all the seams becomes a torment. In the hot weater we have here, they will tear you up. I've had my biceps nearly raw on several occasions.
So.... I guess unless I can find some other source for shirts the shade of green I need, I will just have to break down and remove the non-conforming colored parts off the Lesco and repaint them... eXmark Red...
But of course, my wife strongly objects to this.

Hey Envy, I found the shirts you are looking for. The guy that prints up my shirts gave me his catalog to look through and I found shirts that are stain resistant and moisture wicking. Call me tonight between 8 and 9 PM and I'll hook you up.:waving:

you know, I've always worried about my yellow and black peltors causing something like that.

do you have a " roses " store near you . ours just got a new line of carhart type clothing that is very inexpensive . they are not as heavy as the carharts are but they are nice .

Yeah, I know where one of those stores is located. I'll check it out.
I currently have some carhart like carpenter shorts. Lighter fabric but the same style fabric as carhart's brown stuff. The ones I have are a darker grey and man have they lasted.
Anyways, I guess I'll do a bit more shopping this winter. I have made do for this season. Once it cooled off I just went back to the blue G&K Team Wear uniform pants that I bought some time ago. I have plenty of those and they are only really fit to wear in the fall. Too hot for warm weather and too cold for cold weather.

This shirt is listed as stain resistant and moisture wicking in the catalog. I have their number also if you need it. I got the catalog from the guy that prints my stuff up. He let me use it to pick my stuff out for next year. Is that what you were looking for?

Well I finally got around to getting something new to try... not that I'll actually be able to try it this time of year...
But anyways, I got a few of those wicking tees in two different colors to try out. Yellow and a Green that I hope is the Lesco green color.
They are the Sorbtek technology tees by Unifi.
http://www.unifi-inc.com/products/sorbtek/default.aspx
This fabric is also pre-treated to resist stains.
I might just have something here. But it looks like my bigger concern with these shirts is going to be field durability. I say that because I am going to have to return one of them already. It has a hole picked in it and I haven't even worn it yet. I can just see these after a wear or two. I believe tree limbs, shrubs, rose bushes, briars and so forth are really going to do a number on them fast.

Well, trimmers that spin the other way really help.
But there are no commercial straight shaft trimmers that turn this way (dumb).
So learning to trim left handed can help. (tried but couldn't adjust)
Basically, I just do the best I can and grin-n-bear the leg pain when it happens.
Beats a heat stroke I guess...

Another thing to consider is that the "Goodwrench" shirts are cleaned with professional equipment by the uniform company.
The soils that they are getting on their clothing are not protein stains, but dirt, oil, and greases.
Unless things have changed, they most likely are using Perclorethalene, an industrial degreasing fluid also used by the "dry-cleaning" industry. Perclorethalene is/has been almost completely replaced with more ozone friendly chemicals in the industrial setting, but I am not sure about it's continued use in dry-cleaning.

Our company colors where Yellow with Kakhi. I would get dozens of t-shirts printed and they would last about 3 to 4 months before they turned brownish because of all the dirt. Altough they look good, I have deceided to go with a uniform company, but they don't have yellow. I am having to go with a green and navy golf shirt with kakhi pants(NO UNIFORM SHIRTS; THEY ARE HOT AS CRAP AND I DON'T WANT THE MECHANIC LOOK) It only cost $8.46 per employee per week. Thats for 11 uniforms and 2 jackets. Plus I can dedut that off their checks. :) I am still going to wear my Yellow golf shirts though. I'll let them (Workers) get the dirt on the uniforms!

Actually I use Dark Tan with hunter green lettering on my shirts, and the stains dont really show that much.
On the other hand I do also use the high visibility safety green with the hunter green lettering, and those things are a mess. Oh well, at least vehicles can see when I am trimming/blowing by the street...

I wear the levi stain resistant dress pants and they work great. My biz shirts are micro fiber it wicks the moisture away from your skin and they are stain proof but they cost almost $40 per shirt.

I dunno anymore guys...
I'm about ready to switch over to sweatshirt grey Tee's (whatever they call that? Ash?)
Either that or break down and repaint so I can return to my tried and true uniform colors.
This Lesco Green is the damndest shade of green. Everything I get is either off in brightness/darkness, and if that's dead on, then it seems the Lesco green is less of a green... duller, bluer tint, something...
Honestly I'm thinking about re-painting, because I can just see it now when I go to redo everything to match, adjust the green in my logos, ect. It's going to be impossible to achieve a uniform look... and there's not much worse looking than being off a shade that sticks out like a sore thumb the way this does.
Errr!!!!!
