off road diesel is meant for off road engines like cats and other off road vehicles it is very high in sulfer and is not good for your injectors whereas on road is low in sulfer and good so MY advise it is no good to run off road in any truck

A friend who is a Chrysler Master Mechanic says that any diesel trucks that come in with any fuel other than "on road" fuel automatically lose any warranty coverage.

If you have a new truck under warranty, you may want to check out the details of the warranty regarding fuel.

The only difference in the 2 fuels are just the color of the dye.The epa reduced the sulfer content to meet emission standards just like taking the lead out of gas yeas ago

off road "high sulfur" is still for sale in NC, DBL is correct you need it in cat engines(big) for the extra lubrication. In a couple of years low sulfur or what we buy at the pump now will be off road and Ultra low sulfur will be run on road. Some engines will need an additive to run properly.

C&K youre right about that its hard to enforce and very tempting to get cheaper diesel. im friends with another landscape company and spend a lot of free time down there and they have a gas card but if the cards out and their out of fuel theyll fill up with off road. the only ones mainly targeted are semis who fill up with 200-300 gallons at a time but others still get caught occasionally. we also use off road to fuel our kerosene space heaters.
