What kind of mods are you going to do to this new toy? Have some kind of sulky rigged up yet?

Please Mike I just got the thing a few hours ago.
I should have had them paint it Toro red vs. the
standard green.

Right now I am thinking of making it a stand on unit.
Last years model rode a bit rough even on fairly smooth sports fields.

I have to extend the tongue a bit and add a 1 7/8 trailer coupler then make a foot platform.

I am also thinking of making some type of guard over the top of the drum for it's really gonna hurt if I happen to fall off the thing.

It seems like one that wide and no split axle will tear up the turf a lot while turning, but I have not used a drum type before.

Sure looks pretty Larry. :)

Last years model was the same width and only tore the turf slighly when turning very sharply.

I plan on using it on 15k and up areas. I have a Kees power
plugger(aka Polish Dancer)for the little jobs.

If I ever buy a ztr I can fill it with water. No need to
fill it with water for I weigh many stone.

Excuse my ignorance with this question but, How does it handle rolling over solid surfaces? Are there any issues of the tines becoming mushroomed down. It looks like it would do a great job on the large yards.

All you have to do is just get off the aerator/sulky and
walk it slowly across the asphalt. As you know you can steer a toro WB with one hand. I don't plan on filling it with water for my application so the unit weights about 115
lbs.

An optional wheel kit is available but I have no use for one.

Roughly how much does an aerator like that cost? I assume a 10hp+ lawn tractor would be needed to pull it.

Yeah, falling off backwards into that would really suck. LOL

Would eliminate prostate exams for a while, well sitting down to.

These things are money makers guys !!

Stone if you intend on riding the thing then I would suggest putting a shield over the top like a fender.

I have one of these and use it for overseeding. Yes, they will tear the lawn on turns but that's what I'm trying to do. I have the wheels so it's easy to go over pavement(concrete). I only use this piece of equip. for lawns over 30K sq. ft. Mine cost a little over $500 delivered and yes it is worth the money. You can make that money back in approx. 3hrs.

Stone, BTW, they would have painted it red for no extra cost. At least last year they would. I wanted mine painted red and they would do it but it was going to take an extra week to get it and I needed it ASAP. Be sure to grease the opening for the water because it will sieze up if you don't.

Happy plugging,

Ssouth

Stone a 45 gallon plastic barrel cut in half will make a good, safe cover for that roller/aerator. It will also make it safer when storing it. I have one I made using a water tank welded 5" rods onto. I tried pulling it with a 18 hp yardman tractor and it wouldn't turn corners very well. Next time I would cut it in half to split it for turning. You might have to make larger turns to stop ripping the turf too much. If you aren't going to fill it with water it wouldn't be hard to cut it in half and add a couple of bearings for easier turning. I just bought a 12 volt portable winch to use as a lifting device on some of my toys. And I can use it to pull my Walker out of the fresh graves this year.
6000 lbs pull with a 12 foot power cord for Can $150 at a auction sale.

Who are you calling an old hay seed? I don't think so. I just ordered a $100 suspension seat from northern tool.

My fabricator is going to start the modification process on Monday (he takes warez in trade).

If I went with a foot platform I think there might be might be too much weight on the back of the machine and when hooked to my 52" machines the front ends might be too light.

With a seat I can get more stones over the drum proper.

Thanks for the advice Cantoo.

I had to wait a week for them to build me one and I forgot to ask about the red paint job.
