View Full Version : Briggs engine can't slow it down

Got another briggs intek 55 in today that is over reving like about 4000 rpm with no veriation tried to reset the govenor no difference so we replaced the carby control plate thinking it was bent still no good replace govenor spring still no good . We did see that the governor arm was on back to front fixed that but could cause this . What about the rod that hangs in side the engine or the oil splasher. :realmad: :angry:

We was just told about a worn carby butterfly or the rod from carby to govenor is bent is it worth changing them to.

The carb. butterfly would be my guess, Just had one in last week the screws loosened up. I woud just replace the needed parts instead of the whole carb., Now I see why you post on so many different units you work for a shop huh ?
