View Full Version : rpms 25hp kawasaki
I got a 25hp kawasaki(horizontal). I'm having to reset the rpms every other day cause it either loses rpms or gain rpms. I can't figure out whats going on, the speed adjustment slide is not coming loose and moving itself. Also, if it was coming loose, I should only loose rpms. My rpms have gotten up to 4,000, when they shoudl be around 3600. I've been pulling my hair out on this one, anyone got any help?

Have you tried to adjust the governor it's self instead of the throttle plate assembly ? Post the model and spec. numbers off the white bar code lable so I can take a look at it.
The model number is FH721D. I don't have the mower here at home right now, if you need any more info, I'll post it tomorrow. Thanks for the help.

Well you didn't say if you tried to adjust the governor.
If not, With the engine cold move the throttle to wide open position.
Loosen the pinch screw on the gov. arm and grab the end of the gov. shaft with a pair of pliers and gently rotate the shaft counterclockwise until it stops, While holding a light pressure tighten the pinch screw and make sure the arm doesn't move while tightening. Then go back and check high speed and adjust as necessary.
Hopefully this will do it for you.
Nope, I haven't tried adjusting the governor. I'll give it a try tomorrow. I'll let you know how it works out. But the engine should be not running, while I do this, right? Thanks

Right, Perform the adjustment with engine off and cold.

Well, I adjusted the governor, but didn't help. I ended up taking it to the dealer, I'll post what he finds wrong. Thanks for the help. :)
