Does anyone know if you can speedup the variable speed gear boxes that are belt driven fitted the self propelled mowers. For ex the Rover mowers are fitted with these sealed lifetime gear boxes .

Don't know of any way, Some things can be re-geared by a pulley change.
But on these type mowers they have special designed pulleys and you may not find a larger replacment.

Yeh i throught that may be the case , May be unless one can be bored out to fit . Where is the older chain drives was not a problem to change to speed they sold a speedup kit for them .

Why is it we see all the new changes to equipment as backward step as in one way or another .The simple things that work very well and they alway find away to stuff it up.
I guess it all comes down to cost ....

If you're willing to have a pulley machined for your specific purpose, theres nothing that cant be fixed. you just have to be willing to think outside the box, or have a fat walllet.
