A very large company down here in Florida is using Asulox again on residential properties for crabgrass control. Said they found a loop hole in the label where they can apply it on residential properties as long as they stay ten feet away from all roadways, fence lines and structures. I've read the label and see no loop hole. Has anybody heard of this?

There are no loop holes I deal with DACS on a weekly base if they are caught They will know it. DACS is tacking that issue very serious. Turn them in and see what happens.

I will do exactly that. I don't mean to be a narc, but if I'm following the law why should they have an advantage over me. Crabgrass control without Asulox is a huge issue here. 80% of my prospects ask about Crabgrass control. Without Asulox I can't offer it. Sure, I can preach proper cultural practices, offer a top-quality fertilizer and pest control program and apply Pre-emergents but that still doesn't get the job done like a selective post-emergent control.

BTW, Anybody know the real reason for Asulox no longer be labeled for residential. I've heard it was because of $money$ issues in regards to re-labeling. Or, at least I've heard it has nothing to do with the EPA.

I can answer that one for you. It is all about Money. Asulox came up for EPA renewal, It cost around $ 150,000 to jump thought all the hoops. In the mean Agri Label doesn't require as many hoops and Sugarcane Farmer buy Asulox in 55 gallon drums by the train car load. Also because of miss application Homeowners were have their lawns burned. the manufacture can sell every drop to farmer and not have to listen to complains. Therefore they dropped the Hort Label and DACS has jumped on the issue and sent notice to all certified Operators that they had until to use it up. Many were buying Agi Labeled Asulam (new name) and pouring it into old Asulox jugs and saying they had it left over.

BTW Golf Course can use Asulam legally and many of the spray techs are doing a land side side business stealing from the club and applying on member lawns for big bucks.

Let me add this is just and other case of miss application that took an other great chemical off the market. Had CPO used the chemical right there would not of been the complains about the product. So next time you see Bozo out doing illegal Pesticides turn his A$$ in before we lose everything.
