View Full Version : I must be missing something...?

I'm new to my Exmark 44" et al, and I notice 'tire tracks' in several of the lawns I've done. The good news is that I"m learning more about cutting efficiently in lines, etc., but after several weeks and rainstorms (not enough, sadly) I can't get away from the markings where the tires were.
I've seen mentions of 'mowing two or three times' but I'm wondering what I'm not doing that I should.

In dry conditions it could be what they call "footprinting". The plants are too dehydrated to spring back like they should from being rolled over. Not much you can do, just make sure you vary your mowing patterns to avoid wearing out grass in the same spots. Do 3 point turns at ends of rows to minimize turf tearing also. By late summer most cool season turf lawns here in Georgia aren't looking great.

Like the above said, avoid repeating patterns. Have them irrigate or pray for rain.
