The best equipment is what each person has, it's the only way they can justify buying it. What I like best in the order of your original questions are, Best Trimmer-Shindaiwa, Best Mower-Dixie Chopper, Best Blower-62CC Red Max.
Since you edited and changed your questions, I've edited and changed my answers.
1. Shindaiwa T270
2. Red Max 62CC
3. Shindaiwa
----------
<a href="http://www.townserver.com/elm/">Eric@ELM</a>

David, there is much historical data to answer your questions. Go to the "search" function above, in the line where you found registration. In the search box type in any term, to find topics in the past relating to your question. There are dozens of comments about any given subject. Often your question was already asked and answered. After reading all these, post any detailed questions you have. (If you search on "mower", you will get 96 threads with hundreds of comments.)
Also note that the default display is for messages 10 days old or less (toward upper right on main forum page). There are literally hundreds of threads that are not appearing onscreen.
----------
Jim
North central Indiana

depends on the accts you have i wouldnt buy a 72" dixie chopper for small residentials i prefer shindaiwa weedeaters and edgers and red max back pack blowers, i use tanaka hedge trimmers but i wouldnt say they are the best buy only what you need and save money for a working capital.....in my opinion the best equipment is the equipment that is paid for and runs good, i would start with residentials and work you way up to large commercial accts if you jump right in to large comercial accts and finance all your equipment what are you going to do when you loose the large property next year to a lower bid and you have a bunch of payments to make, with residential who can be sure you will never lose all your income at once unless your mower breaks down and you dont have any working capital to rent one while the other machine is getting fixed
----------
CJC Landscape Management
Winter Haven, Florida

The best brand is the one you can get serviced quickly and reliably when you need it. Second criteria would be how well the dealer will stand behind the product. Any warranty is only as good as the dealer wishes to interpret it. Most major brands are equally "good", the dealer makes the difference.

The best equipment is:
1. Equipment that can be used on all or most of your lawns. (pays for itself)
2. Equipment you can get parts easy and fast.
3. Equipment that the makers stand by the warrenty.
4. Equipment that is the most efficient (time is money) :o)
I personally use Bobcat Walkers, Redmax Back packs, line and hedge trimmers, Little Wonder Ground blowers. I can get parts from 3
places right in town and 4 more along my cutting routes. Cuts my down time.
Travis AG& G Lawn Maintenance

Hello David:
Alan & Travis both hit the nail on the head!
Parts, Service and Dealership
Before I talk about lawn equipment, I want to talk to you about parts and service. This will be very important when trying to decide what and where to get the equipment.
Example: You can have the best lawn servicing equipment money can buy. But if you can not get parts and service when needed, what good is it. What are you going to tell your customers when your down two days to two weeks. This can and will happen to you sooner or later.
Remember when you were bidding the job to your customer and you stressed to them how dependable you were and how you were always on schedule. The customer probably even mentioned how their old lawn service company was never there when they were suppose to be. They had to call the service to see if they were even coming. Do not let them say that about you.
You should buy from reputable dealers. Go talk with the owner or sales representative or shop foreman about the service you will need. Do this before making your equipment purchases. You should build a good relationship with the dealer. You will need him down the road.
Try to buy products if possible, that more than one dealer in your area carries. This way if you are unhappy with the service you are receiving, you can go to the other dealer. I'm a firm believer in giving my loyalty to the dealer, he can help you when you need it the most. Dealers have bad days too. Work with them it will pay off in the long run.
Most of the major brands are carried by more than one dealer. I am not saying that some equipment manufactures are not good, just make sure you check on availability of parts and service.
Also remember this:
It is easier to opologise for price now, than quality down the road!
----------
GrassMaster - Home: www.lawnservicing.com
My Start Up Page www.lawnservicing.com/startup/
