Precast steps?

Anyone familiar with these? Im considering these to replace old wooden ones (two steps and landing) and have heard conflicting reports on proper installation. Set on slab or on crushed stone base? Are footings and piers necessary (frost belt installation).

Your thoughts as always appreciated.

Can't help on install for your area, but does entrance ever ice up so you need to use ice melters? Precast cannot be salted. Most deicers I've used warn against use on precast.
