Do they normally fill their tanks? Yes. But if everyone goes out and gets spare gas cans and fills the car tank and fill this and that we have what we had a few weeks ago. PANIC, all because stupid people fill up because they are afraid it will run out. If everyone would use their brain for a change it wouldnt be as bad a situation as it will be.

lawnman scott- There was a decline in supply a few weeks ago and it was not b/c everybody went and filled up. Stations could not get deliveries. When this happens guess what? we run out of fuel. I suggest you fill all your tanks as Rita rips through the oil rigs in the gulf. That is in case you plan on using/needing any next week!!

$1.79 x 3.8 litres in a US gallon = $6.80. Still a lot of money! :help:

 how did you get to that number? there is 3.785 litres in a gallon X 1.79 =6.76 subtract the current exchange rate .855 that makes it 5.80 a gallon in u.s. dollars.

None, but I filled my tanks the day BEFORE prices shot up, spending 120 dollars at $2.67 / gallon instead of suffering later, and cruised through MOST of the $3+ days on what I had.
Although I agree that panic buying is no good (and it made NO sense the last time people panic-bought AFTER the price shot up), it certainly (and yes unfortunately) does make sense to fill up before the poopie hits the spinning blades.

I run about a tank a week in my truck as long as I dont have to drive on any trips to another town. I filled up yesterday so I will be good until prices go back down this time next week.

Sorry I multiplied by 4.4 litres per gallon which is correct for a CDN gallon but the US gallon is not the same mulitiplier. Sorry guys but the price is still crazy.

I stopped and filled up again this morning because of all the so called 5 bucks a gallon and shortage. It was 2.77 and when I came back by 3 hours latter had dropped to 2.67.

Here just west of DFW, it hasnt gotten above 2.79. There were a couple small towns around us that ran out of fuel for a while on Friday but we never did here in Weatherford. Everything is going just fine and some of the refineries down there in Beaumont and Port Arthur are already starting to crank back up.

I'm a bit like the other guy whose tanks last a week - Once the tank is full, even a 50-gallon drum would only last another week, two at the most... I mean, what's the use, if we run out we ALL run out, what's another week... I'd need an underground 1,000 gallon container to make a difference, and then the fuel goes stale...
Then the politicians talk all this trash about the National reserve, not that it doesn't help but it's only 700 million barrels or so, wouldn't last a month at current consumption rates... Ok, ok, maybe TWO months, whatever...
As far as I'm concerned, the BEST we can do is conserve, thou sure enough soon as priced dropped even a LITTLE this past week, the disrespect towards this limited resource went right back up. I hate to say it, but at this point I'm getting more and more to where I really LIKE it when prices are so high that the roads are deserted. Of course, I'm no better than anyone, I'm just as guilty in the end.
That's right. CONSERVE! How much $ are you going to safe this week by filling the tank up, $4? That's what a cup of coffee can cost. So I am not worried. Let's make sure we use public transportation, more efficient fuel cars and lets downgrade from SUV's(who needs them) to regular utilities cars. :realmad:

How did you guys make out today? If I run out im going to trim hedges with a hand clipper and sweep it up just so we can keep busy for now.No one could defy my logic, is that it?????? Well, not to worry, the morons are hoarding gas again. Went to get coffee tonight and fill up because the gas tank is EMPTY, and wala only premium left. Funny how cheap people are though. about 5 people came and left because that was all they had, one bmw, one escalade. And one lady saw the "out" sign on one pump, and went looking at all of them to see if they were out too. Must be 30 pumps there, and see saw them all.
Gas here was $2.52 for reg unlead.....

Is there a reason for diesel to cost as much as 93 octane?
I think a conspiracy is on to kill the economical benefits of the oil burners.
A sudden surge of demand for diesel cars, and therefore diesel would monkey wrench the petroleum companies
So... slowly they will hike the price to make it not worthwhile to switch over:angry:

$2.78 here yesterday but with our gas taxes I'd expect the rest of you guys to be down.
Maybe the $2.29 in St. Louis is a reflection on how well the Rams are playing? :)
Diesel is $3.59 here in Kansas City. Looks like I'll have to start driving the wifes mini-van.
