somebody has a striper kit obviously. theres lots of ways to get a kit. you can either pay $350 or spend about $3 like i did and made it myself. i got an old screen drag for the infield dirt on a baseball field. i cut it to make it drag the ground just a little bit and cut it to fit inside the tires then mounted it on the back of my mower. now i have a dixie chopper and it was really easy to mount. and the only money i spent was on nuts, bolts, and washers

The whole striping kit thing must be a southern thing........ No one uses them or most havent heard of them around here.....

Grass up here stripes just fine with a lawnmower

Ok I wasn't going to say much because mine aren't THAT much hotter (lol) but I did want to point some things out I can see:
1) The SUN appears to be at a 90-degree angle to the stripes, is it possible they look better in the morning or evening (depending, dunno what time it WAS).
2) Perhaps the direction?
Other than that, at least they're straight and the grass IS dry so that also affects things, but as for me I still find them mostly a waste of time and I really have to be in the mood for the bs to do them (thou I DO get into it about 2-3 times/year lol).
Even thou really LIGHT / DARK stripes DO look 'awesome' to those who think that way, to me they are still mostly 'interesting.'
It's kind of like with a skunk, everybody who KNOWS what a skunk smells like SWEARS it stinks to high heaven but I didn't know for many years what a skunk really smelled like... I knew the day I found out what a real skunk smell WAS that I had smelled this scent before but had always found the smell a bit odd ... See one day a friend of mine was just going EWWw and what not and I was like 'what, what' and that is when I found out what THAT smell was really a skunk but the real reason people say it stinks is because everyone else says it does because to me it STILL doesn't stink. Same thing with stripes, just because everybody SAYS they look great, to those of us who are just now running into them, we find them mostly interesting and not much else (as do most of my customers).
The one time it did impress me was this past July when I flew from Richmond to Washington, I looked out the window a lot and at one time I SAW a large (had to have been ACRES) lot of grass was striped and since I'd been here on LS, I knew I was seeing stripes and thought it was neat you could see them from a passenger airplane at high altitude :)

I was thinking the same thing... must have been a Scag or a Husquvarna lawn tractor, since I see no stripes. :dizzy:

You get the best pictures if the sun is to your back and it is either late morning or afternoon. I just finished a property and laid some great stripes while the sun was setting. It made the grass look really cool. I'm thinking of using something like that for a pamphlet cover.
