It will not break down if you don't use it. :)

It looks like we will have a late start this season. Normally we have had several days in the 70's by now, we barely hit 50 and it will be in the teens tonight. :(

I figure maybe mid April this season before we start, we could of mowed the last week in March last year, but started April 1.

Looks like mid-April at the earliest here in Central Pa. We still have snow on the ground with more scheduled for tonight. Oh well, it's been a profitable snow season!!!

Just got home from mowing all day, started back mowing middle of February. Gonna take awhile to get back in the swing of it, I'm exhausted. I hope the weather will start cooperating with ya'll yankees, so you can go to work too. Good luck

I've been mowing pretty regular here since middle of February. It warmed up and we got some good rain and the weeds started popping up all over the place! I'm wide open right now, did 8 by myself yesterday and I feel real good, plenty of energy in the spring. All the soreness has left my back and my back side. Took less time than I thought to get back into shape.

Last year we started mowing the first of April here in Indy. This year, poosibly the second week. Can't wait though. The new Dixie is getting picked up Monday, and I'm "chopping" at the bit to get on it. It's a departure from the other 2 with Kohlers. This one has a 24 hp Honda, and I'm anxious to try something new. I've always loved the Kohlers, but my dealer urged me to try this, so we'll see what happens. Sorry to all you Lazer fans. I sold the only Lazer in the fleet Friday.

SW PA ... I think it will be 2 weeks before starting. This season will be 10-15 days later than last year. We have a few crocus out now, but no daffodils yet. Snow flurries today, temps 32-35. ...very long Winter!

Bill, I should of known you had Choppers by looking at your stripes. :D

I have also heard the new XW2400 Big Wheel with the Honda is supposed to be a nice unit. Keep us up to date on how it performs.

BTW, I had a dream I was mowing last night, this is for real. I guess it is the closest to mowing I will get for a few weeks. :(

Here we usually start around first or second week of April. It depends on amount of fert from last season. We have been getting ALOT of rain last few days. All we need are a few warm days and some non-freezing nights to spark some energy into the grass. Any other PA guys have any thoughts?

Been mowing my yearly's with sprinkler systems. Kind of getting ancy knowing the busy season is coming up fast. Put myself on the clock Friday to see how fast I could get in and out each job. Need to shake off Winter doldrums and transition to rainy season mindset.
Good luck everyone. Hoping all of us have the best year ever.

Well I'd like to say we are mowing here in PA, but not yet.
Last year we started on March 29th, but this year with the weather the way it has been, I don't see us getting that early of a start. We haven't had many sunny days to warm the ground up any. Tonight it is half raining and half snowing out there right now.http://www.lawnsite.com/images/icons/icon8.gif

Hopefully next week, we may be able to start a few of our clean-ups if the weather co-operates.

I hope this thread does not turn into one of those nasty Eureka vs. Hoover discussions.

Full tilt boogie for 2 weeks now. Barely had time for first round of preemergents. Not being able to mow until dark sucks too. Probably good, though. I'm so out of shape from sitting around, it'd kill me. :)

1-2 feet of snow still on the ground here. Needless to say i am not pleased. I took the walker for a spin down to the end of the driveway to get the mail. The neighbors must think i'm a nut but i don't care.....i'm going nuts sitting in the house all day.

As usual I will be mowing second week of April, though historically the more snow in March the sooner the mowing starts-less frost in the ground.

Spring cleanups just may have to wait til fall.

We have been cutting since first of march.
Glad to see its summer, well spring time!! Just smell that money going to the bank.

Freetime, are you mowing or floating? Mowing between the rain since the first of march here. I had to work mine in today. The wife won't let me leave it too shaggy. LOL!

Hi Guys
The way things look here in Sw Minnesota we probably won't
be mowing until the 4th of july. The snow here is in some places 4 ft deep I don't remember it ever being this bad longest winter I can remember. Last year on March 30 Iwas seeding lawns. Nice to hear that there are some of you guys out and working. Good Luck in 2001

I plan on starting a classified ad on monday 3/19. My phone will right off the hook for I know how to write copy. I make my ad area specific to the best residential areas.
Cheapo senior citizens who want mowing only service need not apply.

I need to service all my equipment next week for many machines were put away "wet" last fall.

If I can see the ground and I don't sink the machines up to the axles I plan on a 3/26 start date. I got a good laborer
lined up and plan on working every day in the month of April
(weather permitting Sunday also)taking every aeration, dethatching, and renovation job I can get my hands on.

You gotta make hay when the sun shines.

I cut my first one today and it was a new account too, yippee. I also seeded the area I cleaned up for a lady last week and fertilized her lawn. I'm tired too, I didn't realize I was this out of shape.
Grateful

The past 4 years i have started mowing the last week of march. This year it is exeptionally cold! I doubt i will be cutting untill april this year unless the temps really warm up in the next week!

My 'mowin-season' started in May 1985 and no let up in sight!

Just had to get my digs in! Could'nt pass up an opportunity like that!

But of course I read on with interest as it reminds of the good ol' days in Ft. Meade Md., Olean N.Y., Shelter Island N.Y., Cold Spring Harbor N.Y.

Happy cuttin to yah.

Aloha,

Kevin

I've been working most of the winter. But actually cutting weeds for about 2 weeks. Sure is nice to smell cut greens!
