Hello, I'm hoping someone can help me out. I live in Tampa, FL in a home thats total property contains 2400 sq ft. I don't have the measurements of the front and back lawn, but I know it takes my lawn service about 15 minutes to mow both sides. As far as I can tell, all they do is cut the grass and sometimes trim the hedges. Can anyone tell me what they think this should cost me a month? I'm sure I'm not giving you enough info, but I just don't know the lawn measurements! Thanks for any help...

Are you goin to trim, blow and edge or just do what they were doing? What do they have for landscaping around the yard? How much trimming will be involved? And what do you think the total time will be to do everything you need to do over there?
I am not all that great about pricing but answering those questions will give others on here a better idea of what the property is like! Good luck welcome to Lawnsite!

$50 per visit...........................
Thanks for your response. I'm actually not in the lawn business, I'm just trying to find out how much I should be charged to get my lawn mowed. I kind of crashed this website I guess.. haha. Sorry.. My service just raised their prices on me and I think I'm going to have to switch to another... I just have no idea what the normal rate is. Now that you mention it, I suppose they do edge and blow along with cutting and trimming hedges. They do whatever normal things a lawn serivce does to a residential lawn. And our lawn is pretty small, I would say... not tiny, but smallish. I feel helpless in finding out what a fair price would be, and I don't have the time to get estimates and go to door to door asking my neighbors. So if anyone has any help for me, I would appreciate it sooooo much!! :-)
thanks, arizweedhead, you posted at the same time as me :-).... wow I am paying a lot more than $50

what are you paying???? maybe we can help you better :)
I started the service in April at it was $75 a month. For the month of Sept it's $80. I'm not sure how much it'll be through out the rest of the year.

I would say if it is under $100 a month you are getting a good deal. Since I'm in a different state prices change but from everyone's posts through out the country your still doing good!!! JMO :waving:

LLL you are paying $75 a month??????????????
What do you want , to shave $5 or $10 off the $75.
On offense , you should have better things to do than worry about the small change .
Are you from the N East ????

Raising my prices is a double-edged sword: It helps cover my costs on the one hand, on the other I risk losing a customer because the economy is pounding hard on all of us. That having been said, anyone here will surely correct me if I make a mistake while I speak for us all:
From what's been going on, some raised prices by 5 dollars here and there to help cover the cost of fuel while one after the other eventually follows, it appears inevitable in the end. I'd say most are leery of raising prices, we share your pain and are not looking to profit from the fuel issue as anyone here can tell you we are FAST to let someone know when we even think they've gone too far with a customer. We work together as a group, to help create a win-win scenario where all can survive with a minimum of bs.
As far as your concern regarding further raises in the price this year, I feel the risk is minimal as I do not think most need to raise prices again in the immediate future thou a few owners/operators may yet come around with a price raise if they have not done so thus far.
...
Hope I wasn't being smart.

LLL---Your 80 ='s 20 a week. I do not care where you are in this country.
That is very very cheap. Help support this industry and don't keep using cheaper guys as that will drive down the prices and soon all will have to cut their own grass.
Alrighty guys, thanks for the advice. I guess I don't have much to worry about. THANKS!

No, this service is just grass cutting and hedge trimming, edging etc. I have a completely diff service that I use for fertilizer and weed control.
Since I started the service in April, they have come every week. I guess as the seasons change, they'll come less.

She is questoning if $80.00 a month is a lot for cutting grass.
I doubt that she has ever been up north. If she had she would be jumping for joy at the fact that people cut grass for free in Fla.

It's the people up north that complain about every thing , it's a way of life .
Ok no need to jump all over me.... geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez.... haha. I've lived in FL for 13 years now, but I'm also only 23 and have just started living in a house with my boyfriend. I pay for all the lawn stuff. I did live up north when I was little and had no idea about grass. You guys are funny.

Not trying to be funny ---Just honest!
This is a tough business and the profit margins are tight. Some kids will work for next to nothing just so they can buy beer or pay for gas in the truck, while some of us try to make a living from this work. It is a easy business to get into cheap and than go on to something else when you realize that there is a lot of hard work and the money is not that great.
But in doing that they have portrayed that the price of the job is cheap and now the customer has a price point fixed in their head and it is hard to break out of that. A well equipped LOC will pull up with $100,000.00 of equipment and the training and license to do the work with the proper insurance to protect YOU. Most homeowners will feel that they are being cheated when they are quoted $10.00 an hour to cut grass when in reality it costs most guys about $10 to 12 an hour just to stay in business (overhead) and than pay for help or themselves, gas in the truck to get there, maintenance on the equipment, and the time it takes to drive there.
Not trying to jump down your throat, just trying to help you see our side of the picture.
