View Full Version : Not happy with Hydroseeder!

I purchased a hydroseeder this year. TurboTurf HS-500. I have done about 4 jobs over the past 45 days. None of it has come up yet. What is wrong? The ground tempo is 54 right now. Customers are kinda dissapointed. i used 3 bales of mulch as the manufacturer said, 50 lbs of seed, fertilizer and tackifier.. What could be the problem. I've already told the customers I would redo it if it doesnt come up soon. Anyway hope you can help.!!

Ground temp is still too cold, when it starts getting in the 60's it should start comming up.

How cold is it at night?
any frost in the am?

If your having frost then your not going to get seed to grow yet, just wait a bit more while the weather warms up, I have allway found that seeding in my area is best done in late summer to early fall. It seems warm days and cool nights ( cool not frosty:) ) are the best for seed, spring seeding can at times be frustrating.

What kind of seed? Most cool season grasses germinate best at 65 degrees, give it some time.

Im using Lesco's transition blend fescue and Midway Rye. Always used Rebel's before. I hope they start soon. thanks!

Need more degree days-havent had enough heat yet.You need 100 degree days minimum to germinate most grass-frmm what I use

Increased mulch will help trap in the heat and help in germination. Still is a little cool in your area. You are just a few weeks off.
