Cool Topic, thanks! Took a cool topic for me to hop back on. Hi again to all of the originals. We installed a lawn ( sod and prep) for ex husker and 49ers fullback and future hall of famer Tom Rathman. Have to toot my horn about any husker. I'm a die hard. He was gone at training camp when we did it, but I knew him from high school anyway. Also did cleanup work for probably one of the richest people in America, Warren Buffet, Omaha( owner of Berkshire-Hathaway shares at $57,000 ). Other than that we do mow and maintain alot of "famous" people in our area i.e. chancellors of universities, presidents of banks but not famous enough for people outside of Nebraska to know. Cool topic though, thanks!

John Deere,
Do you have many accounts in West Omaha?
We lived there a couple years and could not believe the growth of upscale homes. You know the grass will grow well in those old corn fields!
On another topic... have you done any mass mailing? We would get several post cards from lawn companies with their rates for mowing, fertilization, aeration, and seeding spelled out on the card by square foot.

Warren Buffet is the guy I would want to mow for. He wouldn't even have to pay me, just give stock tips. He's no longer the richest man in the US but being second or third isn't too bad.

We maintain The Texas Angler aka:Keith Warren's home year round. He has a hunting and fishing show on (FOX Sports Southwest)Sunday mornings around 9am. Sometimes they film commercials and such in the backyard. My guys get a kick out of seeing the lawn they mow or the flower beds they planted on TV.The fishing pertains mainly to Texas even though he hunts all over the world. His twin brother Allen also has a fishing show called the Chevy sportsman. They both started on Fishing Texas together which is now hosted by
Reid Ryan who is ex baseball's pitching great Nolan Ryan's son.

I used to mow Tony Jones Yard when I was with a Different Lawn Care Biz. For those of you who don't know who Tony Jones is, He was an offensive lineman with the Cleveland Browns. Last I heard he was with the Broncos when they won their 2 super bowls. Not real famous but some of you may know him if you watch a lot of football. One thing I remember is he had 2 huge Rottwiellers and they left some nasty land mines.

I used to mow for a guy named Schneider. His son played hockey for Toronto (I think that was the one). Anyhow the old man stiffed me a BIG chunk of money, loudmouthed, big city immigrant!

We don't mow for anyone famous, at least if they are I don't know it.
Victor, that's pretty famous. I guess you would feel strange asking for his autograph because of what makes him famous, but cool anyway.

Hello there guys,
I used to cut the lawn for the property where they shoot the hbo series" The Sopranos" ....and for those of you who remember the early episodes..the old red and white ford pick-up they used as a plumbers truck was another local landscapers truck. They asked for mine but after looking closer they said the dump body was wrong for the show....whatevere that means.. they paid that guy 2,000 dollars did lots of work on the truck and rented him a mason dump for three weeks while they worked on and filmed his truck...imagine the money they have to burn...they could have bought an old truck cheaper..oh well i guess thats showbiz..

Not really anyone famous, but I do do several on Warwick Hills Golf Course where the Buick Open is held every year. Speaking of which, every year at this time it is complete chaos around there (blocked off streets, one way, etc. This year they are looking for an even bigger turnout since Tiger's playing. And yes, we mow WHILE the Open is going on. They have a job to do, and so do we.

Fun thread! No big timers here. Some high profile Cleveland names but no national celeb's. Quite a few current or retired CEO's.CEO's are the toughest. Mostly Doctors and Lawyers though. I treat them all same. Always the best that I can. A great deal is learned from all my customers. I admire the constant tact, co-operation, restraint, inspiration, loyalty and genuine concern that these people radiate. People of wealth or fame have many of the same problems as every one else. I have witnessed terminal illnesses, Tragic deaths, and Alhzheimer's in the most brilliant or compassionate people. No amount of money can stop these events from happening. Sorry if I headed slightly off topic. Wanted to share observations that have helped me in life with treating people as individuals.

Just remembered a funny story. I use to mow for a guy who owned a bunch of Wendy's restaurants. When refering to the account with my help I would call it "Big Daves House" But it was not. I was just having fun with the help. One day The mowing crew was on the job. The home owner came out and gave the forman some instructions. My forman was so mad at me because he had always put extra effort into every detail of job expecting to get a pat on the back from Wendys legendary owner, the now deceased Big Dave. Well this customer never had any complaints.
Maybe we should all take a literary license and tell the help that this one lives here and that one lives there. Nice work all day long! That simple! No honestly, all our customers get the same treatment and price structure regardless of statis. Best bunch in my opinion.

One of the first landscaping jobs I ever did, when I was still a vocational co-op student in high school, was at Pete Rose's big[B] house on the western side of Cincinnati. In retrospect, his family must have been in great turmoil at that time, it was about then that he divorced his first wife. But the whole family [B]always seemed to be down to earth, and never acting 'snobbish' as other 'victims of fame' sometimes do.
His son, Pete Jr., is two years younger than I, but we swam on the same swim team for a couple of years in the mid 70's. Unfortunately, I believe he is serving time now for drug issues.

IN2MOWIN, I met George Brett in the early 80s while waiting on a flight at LAX. He bought my family drinks and supper, VERY nice guy! I use to cut Wendy Larrys (ODU womens basketball coach) lawn, she was Very nice.

George is my hero. my favorite player all time.

i didn't really think about it till now but a friend used to mow Josey Scott's house (Singer from Saliva). We actually did some work before it was on MTV cribs. Not a real spectacular house, just a normal neighborhood thing.

he was never really around but his wife was usually there!
