I am trying to find out how much rock I will need for 792 Sq. Ft @ 4" deep for 2" - 3" egg rock. If any one can help that would be great, because the rock people were just guessing out of their arse. I am guessing 5 tons...but really have no clue.
go to google and type in rock calculators and then there will be sites where you can put in all your dimensions to find out how much you need

This is how I figure it.
792 x .33 (4 inches)=261.36/27=9.68 cubic yards. To convert 2-3" rock from yards to tons: 9.68 x 1.19=11.51 tons
I work for a concrete co. and do rock/ concrete calcs daily, so I hope I am in the ball park. With rock you may be able to stretch it a little further than concrete. I would get 10-11 tons and that should make it.
