View Full Version : How much rock?
How do I figure how much rock is needed to cover a given area. This will be 2"
rock. Any conversion tables out there? Thanks.

Calculate the volume:
width X length X 2/12 = cu ft [2/12 is depth in ft]
[width and length in ft]
and,
cu ft/27 = cu yd
The supplier will be able to tell you how many tons per cubic yard for the material of interest. The factor might be something like 1.2T/cu yd, but the 1.2 will vary depending upon the stone of interest.
