Boy are they bad this year! Had to move some extra pipe yesterday we'd bought a couple of months ago and had sticked next to one of our buildings. The larger pipe was moved to a holding rack while the smaller was put on the trailer. When we moved the pipe off the ground we killed several of these critters. I moved the smaller pipe to the wash rack and laid it out on concrete. Then took a hose, washed the exterior off and flushed out leaf debris from the inside. Killed many more as they flushed out of the pipe... and contrary to belief these move quite fast.
We figured we killed at least 20 black widows. Maybe it has to do with Halloween coming up though. :D
