I have a job to do and it consists of one stump to grind out. the rental is 165 a day. what would be an apropriate price for just one stump? then soil filled and seed.

I think you'd be better subbing it out. If I were a customer I wouldn't even pay the rental charge for one stump! Around $50 is a good price.

How big is this stump? Most stumps can be ground out within a half hour, Matt has done many stumps in less than an hour. He'll take the rental back, and get charged for an hours use. Two hours tops, don't they rent it hourly? They do around here, $20 bucks an hour for rental.

what size stump? around here its a buck an inch, 1.50 is the way i figure with clean up and depends on the hole for top soil pricing.
minimium price is 50 bucks, more for a long drive to get to it.
if i can't make a good profit, I won't do it, stump grinders are a high maintiance machines.

i agree 2.00 an inch subbed out. but be sure to specify you need the stump ground deep. Some guys will shave off the top and maybe an inch or two. This will not work to plant grass over. 6-8 inches is usually typical.

It all depends on size. Up here in the north east we charge by the inch.
($1.50) We measure the diameter at the largest point. And also how tall the stump is, if it needs cut down more. And lastly if the grindings stay or go. Hope I helped
