COME ON NOW, YOU CANT JUDGE A MAN BY HIS TRIMMER.:p

I KNOW, I WOULD HAVE A REAL TRIMMER, EXCEPT I SPENT ALL THE $$ ON THE MOWER AND MY DUMP TRAILER. I'LL POST SOME NEWER PICS WHEN I GET THE NEW TRIMMER, BUT THIS ONE SERVES ITS PURPOSE FOR NOW.

THE STANDER IS GREAT, IT DOES STRIPE WELL, BUT I THINK IT DEPENDS ON THE TYPE OF GRASS YOU ARE CUTTING. BOTH THE PICS WERE DONE WITH THE STANDER. THE FERRIS STRIPES WELL TOO.

IS THAT REDMAX TRIMMER REALLY THAT GREAT? HOW MUCH $??

I the trimmer I love is great, really works amazingly. It was $350, they make one for $250 which doesnt have a composit shaft.

Nice pics.

USPW - I have the same ferris mower and to start it up, I have the throttle about half way and pull the rope. After it starts up, it does not sound like it is running clean because the engine gets louder and then softer and so forth-I hope you know what I mean. Once I put the throttle at full, it doesnt do this as much. Does your mower do this at all??? Do you know the cause of this??? I bought mine new this year.

Thanks

I have the same mower and I love starting it because so far it has not taken me more then one pull. I have the throttle all the way down, I put the key on on (obvisouly) and I pull the choke all the way up/on and then one pull and shes running I let her run for a couple seconds then put the choke down and it purrs nice and steady.

That called surging when the engine speeds up and slows down. Your Govenor could be set to sensitive or you might have a partially clogged jet in the carburetor.

What year is that ferris? How do you like it? Have you had any problems?

Thanx for the complements on the lawns, we try to get everything looking as good as possible.
Snap12.5, we do sometimes have that problem with the idling of the mower(which is partly why we now have the Stander:) ) however we have found that keeping the air cleaner clean and slowly letting the throttle down after use have helped somewhat. I think it is mostly because it is coming up on eight years old (we think it is a 1997, we bought it second-hand). When we start our Ferris, we put the throttle to the choke position which is all the way up past high throttle (if you can picture that), and it starts with one pull. I would take it to your local small engine clinic, if you have one, and have them clean the carb.
South Florida, to answer your question, we think it is a 97, but we dont know, and despite its age, we do like it. It stripes well with no kit, gives a respectible cut and the only major thing we did was replace the spindles (so far....knock on wood:D )

Thanks for the response. My mower doesn't even have 20 hrs on it yet. Could the carb already be clogged??

How do I check if the governor is set to sensitive?

Thanks

If its only got 20 hours on it then its under warranty and you should take it to the dealer. If you try to fix it yourself and possibly mess something up it will void your engine warranty so your best bet is to have the dealer fix it.:)
