As you may have noticed by now when operating my business we tried a lot of different things to get attention - some worked well - some tanked - some were nothing more than something to look back on and laugh....

Something that did work well was having a presence outside the poll stations. Tomorrow we have local elections coming up and there are a lot of different polling stations for each community where candidates and assistants stand outside and shake hands, lobby for last minute votes, pass out literature, etc...

Each year we did something slightly different - if there was a turf and landscape area we cleaned it up a few days in advance - no charge (usually nothing too significant), nice khakis, company collared shirt or windbreaker, if it was cold out that day we had coffee and hot chocolate, and one year we even had little baggies with bulbs inside and a business card that we passed out to the voters....we'd set up a card table, have a little sign out front, keep to ourselves and just be seen...picked up some really nice accounts... I can assure you we never had any competition, and of course we never showed any political affiliation

Good Idea Sean...I wish I had read this last week in order to prepare something for tomorrow. Next year we will have something set up...

I know it is last minute but you can maybe make up a sign with company name, phone number, logo, etc... - even an 8 1/2 x 11 and laminated, buy a few dozen doughnuts and have them there for those waiting in line, etc... don't necessarily have to be standing there, but probably better...

But I'm guessing you will be watching the Pats tonight.... I know I will.

I am going over to a friends house to watch it in HDTV on a 60"plasma!!! Should be a good game. Bruschi has certainly transformed the Defense.

Mixed emotions for me on this one....don't want to see the Colts run away with home field advantage but at the same time seeing the Pats at .500 wouldn't be all that awful in Pittsburgh either....still waiting for Tom Brady to get turf toe on the left foot, gout in the right, and tennis elbow in both arms

Who are the Pats??? It's about time!!!!!!!!!! Go Colts.

By the way I think Sean's idea is a superb one. I will try that at the next election.
