I enjoyed the GIE expo last week in Orlando. I did two cert. tests, but It also gave me a chance to seem some of the equipment up close and personal and play with them as well.....
I am planning some purchases in the near future so It was welcome...

I've been trying to get to a few trade shows, but.............

Here's the but............
I can get just as much information off the internet or from magazines such as Turf and Tree service, and Landscape Contractor as I can going to a show,AND, here's the bonus..........NO salesmen to deal with!:waving:

I'll say one thing, the salesmen(and women..:) ) where very low pressure and the only ones I really wanted to talk to were the ones with equipment I wanted to test or am thinking about purchasing...It was also nice to put some faces with the voices on the phone....

I agree that internet information and the information passed on LS is invaluable, but sometimes being able to put your hands on the cold steel is nice. I just wish the that exmark/toro 21 and 26 inch push mowers had low oil shutoff so if you get pushing on too steep of a hill you wont blow your engine.

I attended two trade shows this week in Phoenix. One was IA, saw a lot of new products I would like to try but industry is slow to change and vendors rarely carry the new stuff unless you beg or order a bunch. Also attended the local show (nursery and landscape). They changed formats this year and had the educational classes in early Aug (good for me, slow time in Phx.) and the trade show portion this week, it was at a new venue and weakly attended by both vendors and contractors. I wanted to test some newer bigger mowers but the only mower at the show was a 36" Ferris and it was inside. I like the classes first and foremost, next to try new equipment and shop products, and to see old friends in the industry, have a few drinks or lunch on my vendors tab.
