What's the worst you've ever been hurt and still gone to work the next day? This is mainly directed at solo guys being as we have only ourselves to rely on. My worst was 10 stitches up the palm of my hand and between 2 fingers. I left the hospital at 9 PM and was mowing by 8 AM the next morning.

Here's a good one... 2 years ago I was mowing some guys yard who lived in a rural area, I was mowing along and went to duck under some low pine branches and at the last minute saw one of the biggest nastiest looking spider I've ever seen. I leaned back, way back, it barley missed my face as it was falling. I ran the w/b into a stump and sort of fell off the back with my feet still in the damn Velkie, it dragged me about 10 feet until the stupid deadman switch finally realized there was no one at the controls. It dragged me over the same stump causing a nasty deep cut on my arss and back and arms. I came back and found the spider and proceeded to tourch it to death with a can of degreaser and a lighter.

Been there with the flu this year. I was sicker than a dog, it was 90 degrees with high humidity. Had a big pruning job that I needed done. Apparently I didn't drink enough as well that day. All of my muscles started cramping up. Ended up in the urgent care, then to the hospital. Somehow It triggered a thing called rhabdomyolisis in which your muscle cells start breaking down releasing creatine into your blood stream. I had to keep going back to get blood work for 3 months after. In fact I just had my last doctors visit on wednesday. Now, I woke up this morning and my foot feels like it's either broken or strained. I can barely walk. I'm trying to stretch it out so that I can go mow. At least I think I can skip the trimming this week. It hasn't grown that much. If it's broke, I may have to end the season a little early.

tried to pop a willie over a curb up onto the lawn with my metro 36. I think i was going a little to fast and my mower highcentered and stopped but i didnt.Luckly it was friday and my last lawn of the day but all the next week hurt with three cracked ribs. but the plus side was the home owner said i looked funny humping my mower.moral of the story accidents happen when you rush.

Went to urgent care again! Got some x-rays. My foot is just sprained. Something popped in my ankle about mid day, and It's starting to feel a lot better. Now to make some money. Leaves, Leaves, Leaves!

cant compare to you guys, but I've had smaller problems, mostly pulled muscles from being under the hood of a car till 12AM, then out at 7AM the next day. pain isnt something I'm exactly afraid of, I actually have a rather high tolerance for it, though there ARE things I wont take, like heat stroke, passing out, or falling over dead(everybody's least favorite) and being in the hospital. come to think of it, havent done that since I was 3 and had a hernia.

Geez..........Torn rotor cuff, torn tendon in left knee (still working with this one), dehydration, flu, overheating, and torn muscles in back. Ironically I have never broken a bone in my body but I have probably torn, strained, or over extended most muscles/tendons in my body.

I've been fortunate enough to have employees this year also, but still go out in the field part of day on hardscape work, part of day with lawn crew. Strained muscle in back bites and these young sob's make fun of me call me the old man, etc. actually told me I was looking like a comedy show. Didn't they understand I sign the checks??:p

Was racing motocross and broke my right leg, Tibula and Fibula in 4 spots on a sunday afternoon, was in a cast that night, went to work the next day. Luckily I was digging a pond, and my 2 guys were there just doing some plantings and other general landscaping, so I had them hoist me into the cab of the kamatsu, used a tie down to keep my foot elevated and sat in the cab all day and dug. Didnt even get out for lunch, had the guys hand me a sandwhich up from below. The client thought it was hilarious seeing me like that with a broken leg and still working, they took pictures and gave them to me, if I find them ill post them. Learned how to drive real fast with my left foot as well. I have broken quite a few bones being a motocross racer, but I think breaking your leg has to be the worst. Still managed to work tho and luckily it happend in the late fall after clean ups were done, so we only had a few more weeks of landscaping and most of the jobs required machines so i just stayed in them all day. Realized how comfortable those kamatsu cabs really are for that week. But the worst part was is gettin the stomach virus, how do ya run to the bathroom in time and be able to puke in the toilet witout bending your right leg lol. Its probably the hardest thing to do besides plow with broken leg. Well stay safe everyone.

Cleaning eave spouts, I fell about 10 feet onto concrete. I violated my own , "no ladders without a spotter" rule. Fractured my right arm just below the elbow, broke my foot and bruised my back pretty bad as I actually landed on the ladder rung. Got up, finished the eaves, the yard cleanup and loaded up. Drove home and my wife forced me to go to the emergency room. Did several more cleanups with my arm in a cast, my foot in a shoe cast and wearing a back brace.
Of course I had to hire a temp helper but got it all done.

Well I'm not as bad as some of you no broken bones knock on wood (knocks on own head) but, I had and still have pain in my left shoulder, at first I thought nothing of it. It was just a touch painful at times but, I dealt with it finally I broke down and went to a chiropractor to see what was wrong with me and as it turns out I had TWISTED my T2 and T3 vertebrae out of place causing a nerve that controls the feeling in my arm to be pinched and my left arm was literally 2" shorter than my right arm I had also found I had moved a couple of rib's out of place as well. Moral of my little tale is be careful starting those w/b's with out electric start that's what happened to me. I still have some pain and discomfort but, I just have to go back from time to time for "maintenance" work on it and not do anything stupid to further injure myself.
Try and stay safe gyus

It helps to remember to drink lots and lots of water. After 50 years of dehydrating myself, I am just now learning.
Yes, kidney stones suck. Makes a grown man cry.

I was going full speed on a GD super surfer, hit a large low hanging branch. Knocked me right down to the ground, almost knocked me out. I laughed at someone mowing the lawn with a helmet on once, thinking back maybe I should wear one to.

3 winters ago, I came home from shoveling snow, Mom gave me a stack of paint cans to take to the basement. I fell all the way down, blasting paint everywhere, I got 2 elbows fractured lightly and a broken tail bone from the initial shock. I should have taken my wet boots off first. The stairs felt like they were waxed, Three of the stairs broke in pieces. I was back to work about 2 hours later. Ouch!!. I never got an X-ray, but those elbows hurt me for about 6 weeks. I could detect the cracks in them, it was painful. They healed up very well.

I cut grass in record heat this past summer with a flaming case of thrombose hemeroids. I know, I know laugh all you want but that is the most god awful discomfort you can imagine. Every day I work with throbbing knee pain and sharp pains in my ankle from old football injuries and general wear and tear and I have worked with 18 stitches under my eye, broken hand, etc..... b ut the hemeroids are the worst. the heat and sweating makes them even worse than normal.

4 years ago when my son was 1 yrs old we decided that was enough so I went in for that elective surgery we all make fun of to keep the boys from swimming down stream. Well we happened to have the worst ice storm in decades and my phone started ringing off the hook. Keep in mind this is early Feb. so there isn't much outdoor work to be found. Well I sucked it up and 2 days after having the boys fixed I was out there hauling wood and taking names. Lots of blood and pain but you gotta do what you gotta do!

My worst was in 1975 when I first started my business, I was doining a clean up of a property and put some old R&R ties on the ground of course with the nails facing up and jumped off the dump right ontop of a nail with my right foot. It came out of the top of my boot. I had to pull my foot throght the nail, puked from the pain and went to the hospitial for a shot. My foot was like a ballon and at the time there were no walk behinds like buton or bobcats, just 21'' walk behinds so i walked on my foot sideways, that was a trip. But the worst was when I was in nam before most of you guys were born and watching my buddies head being cut inhalf by a 50 cal bullet, that is the worst pain. Hang in there guys spring is comming.com:p

a few years ago while working for another company I fractured a bone in my foot in 2 places and pulled 2 or 3 ligiments.
I ended up finishing out the year on it, then walked around on it during the winter, and finally had enough after cleanups the one spring and had to go to the doctor. I ended up working in a cast for 2 weeks and then the doctor noted the green stains on it and forced me to sit it out. Which I'm glad I did, it was getting worse instead of better. Is it bad when you can see a space growing in between where the bone is fractured? hehe

I hurt my shoulder this year around mid season. I still don't know what's wrong with it. I think it may be a pinched nerve or something. Other than that everything else has just been little things like being sick(cold/flu), or things like that.
