I need a saw for cutting pavers and up to 8 inches blocks. Should I get a Stihl TS400 or TS760?

I will get a 14" blade for which ever saw I buy, because I have used a 12" and it is not quite big enough for 8 inch blocks...

TS400 Pros... not as heavy as TS760

TS760 Pros... more power!!! and better price...currently I can buy it for only $20 more than the TS400 $849.99 vs $869.99

Obviously, I want the BIGGER saw, but am worried about increased fatigue versus the lighter saw?

thanks for the advice...aj

Target diamond saws are most contractors choice around here.

I have the PS1421 model, 14" paver saw, we have used it to cut Kings wall block (rotate block) and it has done just fine. I would venture to say around here you will see these things beat to snot, and older than dirt, but still doing the job.
I finished a little paver patio today will try and post pics tomorrow afternoon, I'm sure as heck not in the same league as a lot of these guys, and am just starting out on hardscapes but the cuts are very nice as far as the saw goes and quick.

TS-400. It is light for those long "cut in place" runs. It has pleanty of power for pavers, block, etc. Also, you can run a 12" or the 14" blade. Run the 12" for pavers and the 14" for block.

We use a 20" table saw for 8" wall block. The only way to go. One cut, clean through no flipping the block and aligning the cut, just slice and dice. When we do pavers we just put on a 14" blade, rest the blade rpm for the smaller blade, lower the saw tower and have at it.

You will pay significantly more for a large table saw. But once you make that initial move, it will pay for itself if you do alot of walls in one season.

So, for now, go for the TS-400. But put in your wish box to get the 20" table saw in the near future.

we ran both ts 400 and ts 760 the ts 400 is a lot lighter and less fatigue over the ts 760 i think they make a cart for the ts 760 but thats only good for asphalt or straight paver cuts go wit the ts 400

Thank you for the advice everyone,

I have decided to stay with a TS400, because

1) lighter weight, but still very capable

2) with 14" model, I can also use a 12" blade which is better for cutting pavers in place
