$28,000 for all equipment, and two old GMC's
$53,000 For all equipment, and accounts. Extra $5,000 for my name.
I could get moe if I sold all the equipment separately. Not so for the accounts, probably couldn't get more than 2months revenue for the accounts.
The only way I would sell everything is if I had somthing else off the ground.
I figure I could get around $30,000 for my equipment if I sold it all separatley.
You definitelty couldn't buy equipment like that for under $35,000

Way I see things, there are two ways a business is sold, and two distinct offers:
1) YOU want to sell it. IMO, this means you have the short straw and good luck.
2) Someone wants to buy it from YOU. This means YOU are in the driver's seat.
Usually, most folks asking are just kicking a tire, at least that's been my experience... But whether they're serious or not can be difficult to determine and there is only one way to separate the boys from the men. I would quote no less than 40 thousand dollars for a business with about 10 to 20k in equipment, 50 regular customers AND you offer 2 weeks training (in which time you walk the new owner from house to house and introduce him to each customer and explain things a bit, also how the equipment works and show him/her the ropes). However, once you mention the price, I can assure you at least 90 percent of the time you will not have to go any further than that...
dass just me...

2.5 times net plus fair market value for used equipment minus oustanding debt and liabilities, then intangibles like brand recognition, if you intend on keeping it, mailing lists, office equipment, advertising pieces, etc. etc. Length of time servicing existing accounts and contracts in place that extend beyond the current service year also need to be considered. Potential for growth and expansion in the area, real estate and the types of service offered also come into play.

GreenUtah has a good grasp of reallity.Net numbers are where its at , your gross means nothing in the end , other than the higher the gross the more headaches that go along with it.

I'd tell them to come back and see me in 20 years when I'm ready to retire.
