I was wondering when is the best time to do the first aeration of the season. I know you want do get it when the soil is somewhat moist but what month or time of the year would you suggest?

we do them at the end of March to the beginning of April.
We start as early as we can as long as the weather and turf conditions cooperate.

I like to do them in september/october or in the spring, around mid -april.If you are going to overseed when you do them, waitong til the temps are up in the late spring will help with germination time.I seen guys punching them already-there is still frost in the ground,I think they are just doing it for money only-since frozen ground will not break up like it should,so the areator wont break up the ground-and the water veins, improving drainage and releiving compaction.

After the determination has been made that there is soil compaction problem you can aerate at any time, as long as you're able to pull plugs (ground not too hard, not too wet.
