I have a 14.5 ohv. briggs vertical shaft that blows the oil back through breather. I replaced the head gasket but problem persists. Where to now?
Thanks for any info.

Pretty sure I saw a post on here about a bad breather valve or what not. Try doing a search for it.

When you put in the new gasket was the block erroded any? I just
did one that was seriously erroded and didn't want to seat correctly.
Did it start this all at once or gradually?

How old is this engine ? Can you take a wild guess at about how many hours you may have on it ? You mite post the model, type and first two digits of the code numbers.

The head and block showed no corrosion or not rough . I polished it with a fine crocus cloth. Not enough to cause any metal loss.
Thanks again

I would suggest removing the breather assembly from the block, Face it up and tap on the brown disk lightly and see if it springs back up. It doesn't move much but should have a springy feel to it. If it doesn't replace it, Here is where you can get one if you need it; http://www.briggspowershop.com/BriggsAndStratton/ProductDetails.aspx?sendingPageType=SearchResults&Catalog=BriggsAndStratton&ProductId=696126
