Just wondering everyone's opinion on Husqvarna equipment? (mowers etc.)

I don't post very often - mostly because I feel (for me) its better to be quiet and be thought a fool than to open my mouth and prove it to you.

You all make this site very interesting- i always look forward to reading your input.

THANK YOU !!

Husky makes great 2-cycle equipment. I just bought a Deere ztr, which is the same as the Husky except for the deck, and I love it. Husky has earned its reputation.

Just stay away from the home owner versions, they are really poulan products and do not last long. Other than that the commercial grade is suppose to be pretty good from what I hear.

Lee,
Your mower frame is made by Kees. Husky was made by Kees also until this year.
Has anyone looked into Kees ZTRs? They are a good machine and alot cheaper that some of the big names. The frames are rock solid. I run an Exmark, and am very happy with it. I would consider a Kees ZTR for my next purchase. I have a Kees 48 walk behind that cuts great.

I would have to say that there trimmers are some of the best available. There old models stink (225). I sold several hundered of the 300 series last year and only had 5 or 6 warranties to perform. Not bad. Plus they are extremely light and powerful.

I like Husky. I have had a few pieces of small equipment over the years. I have a chainsaw now, it screams!! RUns great and I like it.

I have the 55 Rancher chainsaw and the 155bt backpack blower. I love both of them.

I was looking at the hoovering mower that Husqvarna came out with, I thought It might be ok with trim jobs and such, This spring I seen a 61' ztr, They look sturdy, but I haven't seen anyone run one to tell you how they perform.....Until I do, I won't be the fool to buy one myself

The hover trimmer is the only thing I ever bought from Husky that was disappointing. In perfect conditions its about half as fast as a regular trimmer. In rough conditions it won't hover at all and is pretty much useless. My dealer took it back, no questions asked. You'll be much happier with their 322L, which I have and think its probably the best trimmer ever built.

I was impressed by the size of the frame members of the new larger Husky ZTR's. I did see a price on the biggest ZTR with Kohler Fuel Injection the list price was about $9300. It seems that a lot of dealers around here have picked up the Husky ZTR line since last year.
I'm probably going to get one of the 325LX trimmers, it's in the 9lbs range, with the cushion grips, $300. The dealer I talked to in Charlotte said some of their big accounts have bought a bunch of them and have had only one to come back with a broken shaft and it was covered by Husky. It seems their putting this 325 engine on a bunch of different equipment according to the catalog.

Husky sucks there were 3 dealers in my town last year and now there are none! When I needed parts I drove to the nearest dealer in the next town, NH Northern tools which is 45 miles away. They inform me that they only sell the stuff in a box like a Home Depot does. No parts in stock, no service, just buy it in a box unassembled and when it breaks um, well, ah, I guess your screwed? So I call the Husky 1-800 # and after holding for 10 minutes on my cell phone I get a name and number of a dealer in some town that is over 60 miles from me. When I call to ask about the much needed parts I want to order this guy says they no longer sell Husky.
Back to answer your question when I started out I bought alot of the Husky stuff. Great dealer with next day parts and etc. So we have the following:
2-225H60 Hedge Trimmers
1-225H75 Hedge Trimmer
1-140BC Backpack Blower
1-122L Line Trimmer (Maruyama made)
1-225L Line Trimmer
1-36 Chain Saw (Poulan made)
Hedge trimmers are too heavy and need constant tweaking. Blower has a Kawasaki engine and still runs strong. Line trimmers are pretty good but not as great as some of the other brands longevity. The chain saw is the best piece of equipment I purchased from them. Dogged it to hell and still runs strong.
Aditionally my dealer now sells Red Max and that is what we currently use.

I buy Husky and only Husky! Dealer support for me is the best! I walk in with something thats broke! Not very often! My dealer will ask whats the problem he then takes it and hands me a demo model until its fixed! He once did not have a demo available and took a brand new blower of the shelf gased it up and handed it to me! I LOVE HUSKY!!! and yes i did yell that!

The inventory requirement by Husky for small dealers is bankrupting them so many small dealers have droped the brand. I have three items and would not recomend them.

Maybe I better rethink the trimmer purchase. I would like to go with a Stihl but the specs just don't seem as good as the Husky. Especially the power to weight ratio.

I agree with Gene that it does stink that Husky makes it hard for the smaller dealer. Although I wouldnt base my decision on that. Husky makes a lot of great equipment. Just becareful on which equipment. If there is a bigger dealer in town then you wont have to worry about dealer support (unless he is struggling with overhead). I would be sure to stay away from any of Husky's equipment that is a 200 series. Like a previous post of 225 trimmers, Hedge Trimmers, and blowers. As I stated and a previous guy stated the 300 series is real nice. Its weird that I had the same problems as Gratefull 11's dealer. The shaft broke on a few of them. I am sure those fall in a certain serial number break.
