I'm definitely expecting it. I stated in about 3 different places on my last invoice that payment was absolutely due by Dec. 15th. I hope that helps. Doubtfull though.

Yeah here too. I have a couple of late payers right now. Seems they are less likely to be late when the yard is gonna need mowing next week. Most accounts are current though.

slow payments occur around halloween-thanksgiving(plus one week). The checks are all rolling in now that people have thanksgiving out of the way. This is the final week before xmas 'crazyness'. The two or three stragglers remaining are jamming for xmas and they'll rollin in after jan 3rd.

Also around college tuition time. Unfortunately our invoices are usually at the bottom of the stack.

Seems like the minute snow covers the grass, people forget about you including paying you. Only real problem is with commercial accounts. They have checks written laying in a pile and will pay you immediately if you walk in or call. Cash flow I guess.

I agree with above posts. I've always contended that many customers don't view payments as pay for services provided, but rather as a way to insure that I show up again next month. Sad, but true -- witness the slow end-of-season payments. In these parts, grass cutting in January is not needed.

O.k. I'll be the odd man out here :) I've actually had payments coming in and coming in on time. I had a devil of a time getting payments coming in earlier in the fall when first semester tuition was due and property taxes.
I sent a letter out to all clients good eggs and bad eggs alike, detailing the incremental penalties for late and non payment, glad I did because I was really dreading Dec. statements going out & "not" coming back. Things look good so far, the only ones I expect late are the Federal Govt. props. as usual, not a big deal they always pay but its on their time table :p

Now that the snow is on the ground we are having a heck of a time collecting money from people for fall clean ups and mowing. Thousands are outstanding currently. We bill them and bill them but the checks bearly come in. Never have seen it like this before. Our bills go out on time everytime. People just seem to be paying extremly slow this year :realmad:. Any tips for making people pay quicker besides late fee's? These dont seem to work anymore:angry: .
