Please do a search about the warranty (and lack there of) of internet purchases. For the few bucks you will save over dealer price now can be an obstacle latter.

Just be aware that the REDMAX Warranty clearly states that buying it off line voids the warranty. Redmax themselves even said on here one time that yes buying online voids the warranty. And don't think they won't know because they will when you register it and where you bought it. So you have to ask yourself before you buy is saving $25-$50 worth no warranty.

I prefer to make purchases through my dealer...he deserves to make a living as well.

Have purchased some equipment online including Redmax with no problems. I have even had it repaired under warranty at my dealer. If you can save significant cash - go for it.

Bottom line, be an informed buyer. Price everything with all resources. Ebay is a great resource, but NOT the only one out there. Watch the feedback!!

I bought a new Red Hawk Hydro WB from Dixie OUtdoor Power through EBAY. Great company to deal with. Here is the problem that I have run into. I have a new mower and now there is a problem with it (the factory is working on the fix) and my closest warranty repair facility is 1.5 hours away. It sucks to know that I will have to travle 3 hours and take a whole day (waiting etc) to get anything fixed under warranty. I am hoping that this is the only time that I will have to take it to the shop for warranty work. I had a problem with the belt on the deck shredding after I changed the hight of the deck and the factory sent me a new one free of charge. Good luck with your purchase. I would for sure do business with Dixxie through EBAY again. Saved about 1500.00 on a brand new WB.

Just wondering gq, did you have a simple kind of repair done that a dealer would do to keep you with them or a big problem that they knew would not be covered. As you said it was bought online. Redmax said to us, as quoted above, will not waranty online sales.

I called redmax today and they said they have no such statement. He encourage me to go local. But i just save 100 bucks by calling dixie as mentioned above. They say they are an authorized dealer. We shall see.

The money you save by buying online may bite you back when your equipment goes down. Like that guys red hawk mower. If you lose a few days due to down time wheres that money you saved. How would you like it if your customers decided to hire an out of towner to service thier properties to save a few bucks.
I'm sure I could save a few bucks over my dealer sometimes but then again he wouldnt be willing to drop everything for me when something goes wrong either.
Dont complain about customers going with someone a bit cheaper if your not going to be a loyal customer yourself! Rodfather seems to get the point of a good business relationship. Remember your really going to be up $hit creek when your dealer goes under!

I am my own mechanic. I almost never go to a dealer anymore. If i didnt maintain my own equipment, I would agree. For me, i like to develop relationships with guys that do online business. Many of them have a store front also. I cant afford to pay extra for the same thing that i can get cheaper.

Wow.. must be funny being on the other end of that phrase.. Being the one saying it, instead of the one hearing it.

simple fact of life. If you are going to be more expensive, there better be something better about you. Better service, better ?, or better ?. If not, why would I pay more. I dont expect my customers to pay me more than the next guy for the same thing. But fact is, I provide great customer service at a competitive rate. Not under cut or lowball, just competetive with excellent service. The local guy can provide great repair service, if i needed it, i would do it. I service my own stuff, therefore i am just looking for price and enough customer service to get it to my door and charge my CC the appropriate amount.

I agree with that 1000%! I think the FRAM oil filter commercial says it best..."Pay a little more now...or pay a lot...later" I support my dealer and he supports me! Most dealers around me will give you a loaner machine if yours goes down and needs warranty repairs,,, but they tend not to do it if you bought it on ebay.
When my dealer has a customer come in with anything that they say they bought on ebay, he tells them to call ebay and have them fix it. He's joking but many get the point!

Keep in mind Fram Oil Filters are the worst on the market. Anybody can say anything about their product. Go with your gut feeling and what works best in each situation. If I can save $100 on a trimmer it might be worth the risk. What do you think the failure rate of a product is such as RedMax. 2-3% maybe that bad?
