View Full Version : I would like a multi-use aluminum open trailer

I am thinking about having a aluminum open trailer made that serves as a utility trailer (sides and ramp gate) 95% of the time, and as a car hauler (removable sides and fender) 5% of the time. I have and old 1956 Chevy Cameo pickup truck that I would like to haul to some shows once in a while.

I thought I would have someone modify a aluminum car hauler somewhat by adding stake pockets and a removable ramp gate (I would still need the heavier gage ramps for loading the truck).

Has anyone here modified a open car hauler this way? How well do the side rails stay in the stake pockets?

Who all makes aluminum open car haulers? I have seen Aluma, Alum-Line, ATC, and Featherlite. Any other company I should look at?

Thanks,

For a nice well built aluminum trailer get a featherlite. www.fthr.com
