I hope your kidding gmj lawns did also see the 12 other hours on for the edging and bush trimming? Treflan is a pre-emergent for weed control and you need a pest. license to use it.

Gateway, you seem to be getting used to using LS to create your bids for you. Gotta learn somehow I guess.

Bids were already created just wanted to see what everyone else thought thats all.

Mulch I would put down at about $55 per yard, and tack on $500 for the edging and trimming, add treflan for say 200 more, and get 2900. By keeping it below the 3000 mark, it makes it stand out from the others. I'd probably win it. The mulch would probably take me 16 hours, but it depends on the difficulty of spreading. I always use a big manure fork or grain shovel to lift mulch so my shovel time is limited. Total job time might be 28 hours. My net profit before taxes is about 75-80 bucks per hour. If I were feeling frisky I could probably knock it out in 2 1/2 days working alone.

I came up with what Cowboy did,, I came up with $3000+ maybe

$55.00 x 40 yard of mulch
2 men x 8hrs @ $100/hr = $800.00
I'd include edging with the mulch price cuz I'm getting mulch at about $16.00 per yard delivered then charging $55.00 per yard that a $39.00 profit per yard and unless it a really difficult yard this might change the price but usually you run 2 men on the wheels and one or two spreading. I dont use any fabric in these parts

Before I read any posts , I thought $3000. Not knowing what treflan was or the cost of it, I would say $3200 after reading posts.
Did you get the job?

I won't know until Jan. 31, its a property management contract not just the mulching I will let everyone know if I did or not. Thanks:waving:

Did you get the job?

02-08-2006, 09:12 PM
We charge $75 a yard of mulch installed. edging, weeding, clean ups are extra at $60.00 per hour per man. To many people in my area give away work to stay busy and only make a small amount from any given job. We have always looked to make at least 35% profit or in some cases 60% plus from a project.

02-08-2006, 09:46 PM
I would be at 3600.00, but have a bed edger so the edging would not take any more than a hour. I figured a man hour per yard, and that is high. If I was actually bidding the job I would probably knock a few hundred off.

No I guess not but I'm glad I didn't because I am starting to get alot of residential jobs which means I can make double money per hour. Thanks
