How to triple your revenue per hour while mowing without added time or labor (much):

I need to run out to the K mart to get a can of green spray
paint and paint the part of the old sulky to match.

Hey Larry, those 1 bolt seats are getting hard to come by aren't they? This is a serious question by the way.

What will you pull it with?? If you pull it with a ZTR, what do you need a seat for?

Just remove the cab. Really, I think Stone plans on pulling it with his trusty sidekick Toro.

Ray,

Your wrong again! Stone left so fast for the green paint he forgot to finish his post...he charges the neighborhood kids for rides...rain or shine...that's why he doesn't remove the cap. Air conditioned in the summer...just opens the windows. Another great innovation by Stone!

Impressive!

Larry, when you get the chance, please post a picture of your sulky/corer at work in the turf!

Thanks!

The tines on that thing look far apart to me. How many times over the lawn must you go to get 10-12 plugs per square foot? It does look like a neat setup. Give yourself a whip and we can call you Ben Hur Stone

There is a bit too much weight up on the front for a 52" deck (the 62" deck is longer and 110 lbs. more).

The seat needs to be moved back against the guard as far as
possible. Thus the foot rest needs to be moved back and the
hitch made shorter.

When my suspension seat arrives I will make it primo.

It does tear the turf a bit on sharp turns. I would go with a 36" wide model for residential use.

Looks to me that you have your drum backwards in this pic, unless you are going to be pluggin in reverse.....
maybe I am just not seeing the pic clearly ???

I believe mowerconsultant is correct. When I first got my tur-core I also put the brackets on backwards. It only took me 5 mins. to reverse them.
Stone I hope you didn't weld the sheet metal to the frame, even if you did it will only take a few extra minutes to fix.

Stone, if you are going to use your weight for that thing isntead of water I would just cut it in half and add two more bearings and have a split drum. It will take some time but it will be alot easier to turn. I have a spike one about 5' long that really tears up the turf. Someday I'll cut it in half and use it again. You also could have mounted a car rear spring for the seat post and have a better ride. You might want to wear a kidney belt driving it anyway, stones can be a killer on the back.

I guess you don't have to add additional weight now ??

What's them plugs gonna sound like hitting that metal ??

Money ??

Mount a porta pottie on that thing and charge for fertilizing too. Solid or liquid.
How much N in a bowl of chili?
You could make a killing after a chili bake off.

10 to 12 plugs per square foot? I think they call that a rototiller! That would be ALOT of soil displacement!

Those aerators have the tines welded to a piece of angle iron about 2-inches down the tines. I assume that is to prevent breakage of the tines, but it would also prevent coring any deeper than 2 inches. I looked at one at a local dealer and scratched my head trying to figure out if it would go deeper with the drum's weight or not. Stone, you used that contraption yet? How deep does it pull cores?

Runner, I would feel guilty to leave a lawn without pulling that many plugs.

I have only used it in my small back yard and in very moist loom it pull 2 to 2 1/2 deep holes about a nickel in diameter.

That is the correct rotation of the drum per the mfg.

That way the core drops easily out of the back side of the drum vs. being thrown on the operator.
