I'm getting ready to go look at a proberty to bid on for maintance. Part of the bid is planting bulbs, I was wondering how you charge for this. I know it depends on the price of the bulbs but how would you charge for labor. Also what is the best way to plant the bulbs. I have seen guys using those little augers. Any info would be great thanks.

When we plant bulbs we usually till the entire bed so it is really soft and the dive in. the augers are nice if your soil is a but on the hard side. we plant about 60,000 bulbs each year... you have to figure out a labor rate for planting a single bulb. Ie could you till a bed and plant 60 bulbs in an hour? but if you do a fall rotation of flowers, you could just bury your bulb under the annual plant and save a small snippet of time...so long you are plandingthe annual close enough together to give the desired effect in the spring....
