I recently heard that Echo has a backpack blower with 58.2cc, has anyone used it before? I have mostly Husqvarna blowers, but none are this big.
dmk395,
They have 2 models with the 58.2cc engine. One has a hip throttle, the other has the tube mounted one.
They are also coming out with the NEW PB-650 with a 63.3cc engine! It has 5oz. more fuel capacity, about 3lbs lighter, 95 more cfm, and 15 more mph! I was told it will be released in the Spring??? Anyone heard of a more exact date? This is my next blower.

Well if these blowers keep getting bigger we won't have to mow anymore! We will be busy sodding everyone from the grass being blown right off!! LOL

I bought an echo backpack blower last year and love it. Im not sure what size it is but I can dam near launch things with it. I remember the week I got it last spring. I was blowing off an owd wood deck and the force began to literally rip off the old paint. Later that week I was running around a newly planted bed when I up rooted a row of flowers. Cool
63cc's Wow!!! I wonder if you could point the nozzel at the ground, wrap your legs around it, squeeze the trigger and go for a ride?

We got 2 Echo PB 600s and 1 PB603 almost identical and they can blowwwwwww!
I use a PB601 58.4cc, 535cfms at the tube end. Works real well im still looking for a shindaiwa eb630 online. The new echo 650 has over 600cfms all the models with over 500 at the end are very good investments. Marks Mowing Service
Whats the prices looking like for the 58cc and 63 cc blowers? I'm in the market
Esby the 601 was 400.00 but i get a 15% discount on all purchases from my dealer i paid 340.00. Don't know what the 650 goes for. Marks Mowing Service

I got a brochure from Echo today and they have an article about it. It says "Move over Redmax; get off the street Shindaiwa", also says July availability and the 63.3cc engine generates in excess of 205mph and 650 cfm at the end of the pipe and weighs 21 lbs. It looks pretty clean and neat not cluttered up.

I got the same brochure. we run a redmax and it is much more powerful than the echo 4600, 6000, 601 we have , and a quite a bit more than the br400 stihl. the br650 is supposed to be out in july. I've heard $500. The eco rep says it is awesome. Probably LOUD TOO!!! I've also heard vandermolen's is quite powerful, and Stihl has a ner br430 coming out with specs close to redmax. and stihl typically is very conservatice w/ thier specs. dave g

I just got the Vandermolen 850BTx from Wikco and It is definitely a beast. It has the Kawasaki 48.7cc engine and the most CFM of any backpack currently on the market(750 at the pipe) I gave $459, but it's a very good unit and I recommend it to anyone............Lynn
Lynn,
Are you sure of those figures for the Vandermolen? I dont have a link for a website, but I find it hard to believe that a 48cc engine can propell a backpack blower to 750 cfm at the pipe. These bigger monsters all have close to 60 or more cc's and have trouble with 600 cfm at the pipe. Maybe its housing cfm that you are reading? As 750 would be about right for this measurement. I'm just curious as I am a doubting Thomas, and a little thick headed at times! :)
As for Echo's being heavy, their heaviest is the Low Noise model that weighs in at 25.3 lbs. The newer style L frame units are all about 19.6 lbs, with the new 650 tiping in at 21 lbs. Dont know other manufacturers, but I'm sure they aren't that far off.
I think the days of real loud blowers are over. Too many people complaining about a clean driveway being loud!!!

I find that hard to believe too Dixie1, but I guess anything is possible. My Redmax EB6200 is fairly light for the power. It is lighter than a 42cc Shindaiwa we have.

Here is the information on the Vandermolen blowers. I see it is a fuz heavier than the Redmax and it has a Kawasaki engine.

Speaking of fuzz, those figures on speed and volume must be at the housing! Must be using FUZZY math. Geeze 225 mph! All out of a 48.7cc engine? Is the Redmax volume at pipe or housing, the website doesn't say?

Gentlemen, I got my info from the latest edition of Power Equipment Trade magazine which ran a 2001 power blower specification chart article. It is true that the Vandermolen 850Btx has 750 cfm at the tube. The closest one to that figure is the Echo PB-650 with 630 cfm. The Red Max EB 7000 is listed at 529 cfm at the tube. It's really hard to tell if these figures are accurate since the publisher only has what's given to him by the manufacturer, but I can tell you that the 850Btx is ONE BAD BOY!........Lynn
I use to do parking lot sweeping at night an we
needed this kind of power for that.I assume
you guys must use yours for that,as i cant see the need in residential.

Well i just bought the PB603 made by Echo, it seems like a step up from my Husqvarna 155bt.
RedMax just e-mailed me back in regards to me questioning if the 730 cfm's was at housing or end of tube. They told me it is rated at 730 cfm at the housing. This is for the EB-6200 and EB-7000, only the MPH are different between the two. This leads me to believe that Echo DOES already have the most powerful blowers on the market (not counting the Vandermolen) at. ....44cc = 800 cfm and, ......58.2 = 1100 cfm, and .....the new PB-650, at 63.3 cc = 1200 cfm all measured at the housing, like RedMax, and Shindaiwa do. This is why I have a real hard time believing the Vandermolen specs. Because the above specs for Echo in pipe cfm's are...44 cc = 380 cfm, and...58.2 cc = 535 cfm, and 63.3 = 630 cfm's. Echo is the only one advertising both methods of measurement of their cfm's.
Am I confusing anyone yet?

ok- I HAVE USED ECHO 601 AND 6000 AND REDMAX 6200. tHE REDMAX IS MORE POWERFUL. PERIOD. The stihl br 400 is between the two. and for the record, 75 db on the redmax is freakin loud compared to 65 decibals on the ln series blowers. I have them. I know. I would bet my stihl the new 650 is as loud (75 db) as the redmax in use.
also, the vandermolen has got to be at the housing, but the redmax numbers are at the tube. The echo rep himself told me the redmax 6200 is the most powerful back pack RIGHT NOW. The new 650 will beat it, but I haven't run/seen one yet. Also the new br430 from stihl will be thrown in the fray as well.
