Yes,I am an idiot. While triming crepe myrtles today,I cut off the tip of my `bird finger` with my new felcos.Boy, did that sucker bleed.Only reason it happened because I got in a hurry, and tried to do several things at once.
Lesson here,be careful,be slow and don`t be an idiot.

dls - message received on the be careful! I know what you mean. Fortunately it hasn't happened to me but a toolmaker friend of mine lost the end of his thumb in a press a couple years ago. I work with machinery & power tools every day (welding & hoisting) and when that stuff bites, it bites hard!

a guy who i knew a couple of years back had 2 fingers removed due to a log splitter. not a manual one, but a hydraulic one that slowly moves down the way. so think about that. and those things are normally really dull.

I almost lost my left hand ring finger last year due to impatience.
An elderly customer of mine had forgotten to unlock a stockade fence. I tried the gate and it was locked. So instead of just hitting the doorbell and waiting to get the gate unlocked I decided to just jump the 6 foot fence where it intersects a 4 foot chain link fence. I climbed up on the 4 foot fence. As I jumped to the other side I had to jump out a little to clear some bushes. Well that's the instant my wedding band decided to get hooked on top of the stockade fence. Fortunately the fence splintered off as my full weight came down on the ring. It ripped some skin off but no other damage. I no longer wear the band with my wife's blessings.

Wow that really sucks! I keep saying I'll be so happy if I get through the season with 10 fingers and10 toes. I'm so accident prone. One day I got some brand new pruneres .I used them maybe 3 minutes and cut my hand really bad.I didn't have the time to go to the hospital, I just wanted to finish the job. So my husband found the only things he could to bandage it up. A kotex and duct tape! There was blood all over the driveway and bushes. I did however finish the job, with my left hand. Another day I lifted the rototiller by the really hot motor, and then not more then 5 minutes later I went to jump on a shovel (with only 1 hand to work with) and I fell backwards and screwed up my ankle! I was a one handed gimp for a few days.

I did the same thing when I first started out.. I was doing landscape maint for a winery and was out suckering a bunch of poplar trees. Reached down and grabbed a handfull, stuck in my felcos and yeeou! There was no duck taping it back on and though it was only the tip, ... I was playing guitar semi pro at the time and it hurt like hell to play for about a year. I still have the scar on my left index finger tip..
Ouch! I got my palm once untangling a piece of wire that the last LCO put in after a mess up. I guess when I jerked the wire I pulled the trigger and it got me.

I stopped to look at a tractor / FL that was forsale and the owner said his wife wouldn't let him drive it anymore because he lost his fingers. I thought it was strange but o well. I looked and he had all but 1 finger and you could see they all were damaged. Turns out he was working with his table saw and passedout and fell into the saw while the guard was off. No more power tools? I don't even want to think about that.

You also need to spray it with Windex - like the father in "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" Then put some duct tape on it.
