I have a robin 2050 and I want to change the fuel filter. There seems to be a rubber plug in the tank with both lines passing through it. My question is can I take that plug out and put it back with out the tank leaking fuel afterwards or do you use a mechanics wire and fish the lines through the hole in the rubber plug and leave it in the tank.

I just fish mine out with a coat hanger, pull line through the rubber gromet a little and replace the filter. Not sure if the hole is big enough to pull the filter through, but if the gromet looks ok i.e. not cracked etc then give it a try.

The fuel line should be plenty long enough to fish the fuel filter out through the cap with a wire as maniac said. I wouldn't suggest doing anything with the grommet it will surely leak.
