Anyone seen the landscape traliers offered by Lowes stores?
They were a good bit cheaper then those offered by landscape supply and/or trailer companies.
Thoughts?

Home depot has pace open trailers! I was looking at them last night when i was at home depot! What shi*! I like the fact that they have 24 inch metal sides but every thing is so flimsy on them that they couldnt possibly hold up for a landscaper!

You usually get what you pay for in trailers. I just bought two new 6 x 10 tilt trailers. One was $650, average paint, used tires, and common wheels, no treated floor. The second was $750 with treated floor, good paint and decal work, new tires with white spoke wheels. We'll see if the extra $100 pays off in time.........Lynn

I have looked at those trailers also and found them to be inexpensive, and in some cases "cheaper" than what you find at a trailer dealer. On some of them the metal looks thinner, the welds are not as clean and the ramps look flimsy and don't line up with the pins properly. It is almost like they are factory "seconds" in some cases.
I would look them over very closely. Find out what the Gross Weight is and then how much the shipping weight is. Subtracting the two will tell you how much load you can carry.
Another thought is service. Anything metal that gets bounced around driving up and down the roads has a breakage concern. Do they have any kind of warrantee service? Do you mind paying out of pocket for someone to weld something back together for you? What if you burn a bearing and need new spindles? Just considerations.
Check it over really well. If it looks really good it probably is. If it looks cheesy, well, that speaks for itself.

What size are the ones at lowes? I have a 6x12 and since I bought the kubota its really to small, so once i sell it I'm going to get a 7x14.

I would go to http://www.trailersonline and do a little cost comparison, their one of the few places I have seen that actually list their prices on line. The dealer there isn't top of the line but the quality is reasonable. When I buy from there I plan on replacing the wood with treated lumber, I simply factor it in as part of the price when I go to buy.
Good Luck,

I can honestly say you can't get those trailers at thouse prices here in Maryland... Maybe used, but new? No way.
If anyone around me knows where I can find them at that price PLEASE let me know.

I have one of the Haulin' brand trailers from Lowe's , it's 5x8. I already had it when I started this business and have been making do for sometime now. It just long enough to get my rider and 21" mower on it. I made the ramp for it. It tilts but that's a wild ride. I checked around when I bought and it was the least flexible of the cheap trailers. It much stiffer than the cheap angle iron trailers that most places are pushing around here. I don't have any complaints about it, it pulls great and doesn't weave at all. They now have a 6x10 with a ramp that sells for $829 I think. I thinking about a 12' or 14' next. I've seen some nice aluminum ones but their pricey. I saw a guy pulling a ZTR on tandem axle dual wheel equipment trailer the other day, talk about overkill. But maybe he was just using what he has like I do.

I told ya'll I could buy one down here for 1/2 what you would pay up there and arrange shipping! I mow a Lowes and have looked at them and the prices on them------------WAY TOO HIGH! Try to keep in mind what that trailer's intended purpose is, it's going to get beat up a little, it ain't gotta look "spiffy"!
Trailers are also supposed to flex. If it doesn't flex it breaks. I built them for 16 years and they were made that way for that reason. The 48' trailers we built could twist so far you would think they were going to fall apart!
My first trailer was a 5 x 10 and had a mesh floor, it cost me $525.00. My second was a 8 x 16 and cost me $825.00 with tailgate. My last one is a 8 x 20 and is an equipment trailer with the tailgate added. It has 5" channel frame, brakes, extended tongue, it cost me $1100.00

I wouldn't buy anything that was made at a factory. The people who build them do not care about the quality of the trailers. Surely, there are some people up there that build trailers for a living. I like to meet the people that build my trailers. Usually they are a better quality and a better price. I am fixing to get a new one built. A 7 X 10 (odd size) with single axle, 4' rear drop gate, and I am having them put a 4' bifold drop gate on the side up at the front for my rider. It's going to cost me $975.00 plus tax. I pick the color and they use only automotive paint. I already have two of their trailers and they are built well. Look in the Yellow pages and find an independant trailer company. If something does go wrong on the trailer, its better to be able to go to the guy that built it rather than go to a company that does not care about repeat business.

KD...
Sounds like a nice set up. Post some pictures of the trailer when you get it. I would love to see it, especially the bi-fold side gate. I am sure others would also.

Went and looked at the trailers in person tonight. They had stickers on them from the manufacturer. Here's a link to thier site:

These are at least a couple hundred bucks cheaper then at one of the local landscape supply places around here.

I think it depends alot on how you treat your equipment as when I had employees I was always welding on tounges or replacing shackles etc. Now that I have no employees I have not had to weld a darn thing.......or replace anything accept light bulbs! Nothing will last very long if it is abused no matter how well built!
Peace!

I've got a 6 x 12 trailer from Loew's and am fully satisfied with it. I haul a 60" ztr and a 48" w/b with no problem. Prices are much better that any other i've found. Only problem is, now I need at least a 16ft. and they don't sell one, will have to look somewhere else now.

I have looked at the Carry On brand of trailer and they look rather well built and have a reasonable price. I am seriously thinking about getting a 16' with dual axle brakes from a Central Tractor store up my way and getting rid of my enclosed trailer because it is so "bulky". But I am not sure on that idea yet because I also like the added security of being enclosed.
