Does anyone know for sure what the reccommended rate for Zoysia Seed is? I see some articles say 13 lbs per 1k and some say 4 lbs. per k. Had several calls this weekend for hydrosseding Zoysia. One site on the web says 25 lbs will cover 12,5 k. Want to be sure before I give any quotes! Thanks!

If I recall right The rate I used to SPREAD Zoysi was at 5#/1mft. Check with the seed distributer. I didn't have much luck with germination. How well does it work with the hydroseeder??

Ever considering plugs? Home Depot here carries very nice looking Zoysia plugs supplied by Elsberry's Plugs, here's their web site: http://plugalawn.com/

I would have to say "ONE" one seed that is , that should cover the block over time

I was talking with the LESCO guys the other day and they said the seed was too expensive and was real hard to get established.

Zoysia pallet of sod= $80-$90
pallet covers 450 sq ft.

seed $20 per pound
5 lbs per 1k=$100
Prep work/aerating
slow to establish if ever
I sure wouldn't want to guarentee it.

Plugs= I don't know, but not much
plug work and prep
slower to establish but will work

All things considered, plug it or sod it. Forget about the zoysia seed.

Zoysia is very difficult to get started from seed and may take most of the summer to establish. Most customers do not have the patients to wait for the grass
