After using it for 4 years and bitching about the same things I finally did something about it. My good friend did all the welding. I owe him big-time. Not done yet, I'm going to swap out the axle with a 5000lb w/ brakes this year and weld on some gas can holders and add work/reverse lights.

The drop-downs now allow me to leave the trailer and still unload. The reflective tape really helps with cars seeing the trailer at night.

Welded box steel extending the tongue through the frame, welded box steel onto the 3 angle irons just before/above/past the axle, and added another set of side markers. This has made it nice and stiff, now I load a Dingo on without the trailer sagging.

Put 4 of these down each side, really makes it easy to tie the tarps down now. Good close-up showing how the sheet steel enclosed helps keep mulch and leaves and crusherun in the trailer.

Haven't finished this yet but by making a false front it created a tool box space (gas cans, blower, rope, chain) The other purpose besides holding tools was to push the mower back farther so the weight is over the axle. The weedeater racks are awesome, thanks trimmertrap.

These tie downs in the floor are great cause now the mower doesn't bounce like it did when it was tied to the side rails(before the sheet steel was added) The 2x4 frame was something I put together very quickly for holding in branches and leaves and doesn't add a lot of weight or cost a lot. Its real easy with the stake pockets welded on.

Here you can see the plate that was welded on so the drop-downs could be bolted on. And not so noticeable is I moved the lights 1 1/2" out so the frame does not obstruct part of it from behind anymore.

Good looking little trailer, I would have gone with pressure treated though, but thats just because of my area. Stuff rots out so fast down here, its unreal.

Any camper dealer should have them, i am pretty sure thats what they were originally used on.

too expensive and too heavy. 90% of the time they aren't on. The last time I used it was for leaves so thats why they are still on. If they rot I'll go spend another $12 and put new ones on:p

Yes I do believe the drop downs were originally designed for campers, however I got them for $24 a piece at my trailer dealer, I think that was a great deal. Whatever they are made out of doesn't rust and they have a rating of 800lbs I think. More than enough considering most of the weight is on the axle.

Thanks for all the comments. It really has started to save me some time now because everything is starting to have its own spot or its real convenient to tie something down.

Nice set up! I like the stake pockets. A little black paint on the timber will make them last a while.

For the amount of times I rent a Dingo or the like I really should just go and buy one. It seem like every time I am about to do it though, something else comes up...Iced gutters rip off roof bringing fascia down with it, wife gets "t" boned in the car, 3 birthdays in December:p

Very Very nice welds!

my friend is a professional welder, he used to weld race cars, but the welding business around here sucks. Its 60hrs a week for 30 weeks than bam, layoffs. He wishes my business was larger so I could hire him full-time. He was mad at the welds holding the sheet steel on. My fault really, because I used a thinner steel to save weight and had him weld it to the thicker angle iron. I guess this is not something that can be done (easy) with his machine at home. I'll let him know you approve.

Man sounds like you've had your bad luck!! Is your wife still able to walk? Hope it wasn't an idiot:mad: drunk driver that hit her....
I have been searching for some used Dingo prices and let me tell you I could not find an 420s with the tracks for under 9,000!!! There such an awesome machine!

Thanks, yes she is fine, the '94 Buick's nose was relocated 3" to the right. Idiot girl ran red light in borrowed suv, said she was upset because she thought she had just seen her recently stolen car:dizzy:

I wouldn't get the 420 tracked, go with the 425wide track, makes a big difference. It does replace a laborer, isn't late for work, goes all day without a drink, but the conversation is all a mumbled growl.
