I know very little about the walk-behinds, but everyone here on the board seems to recommend them.

The controls look awkward, are they? And how are they on hills?

Are the MTD's okay?

And also I've read that the gear drive give a better cut?

What about the minimum horsepower rating you would recommend?

Thanks for any help...

It depends on the size of the lawns you are targeting. If they are small, a W/B would be just fine, but if you have big lawns, you will need a big W/B or a ZTR. I have to 60" Dixie Choppers since most of mine are big lawns.

MTD isn't one of the favorites of this forum, but I guess they would get you by for a while. ;)

I use zero turns now after 5 years of W/B and I would have to say all my jobs were cut allmost in half. If you have big jobs where your on a w/b for 3 or more hours you will love a zero turn.

Look into a Exmark looking at the ad they are offering 6.9% finacing or 180 days same as cash! Either one the rider or walkbehind its hard to beat 6.9% finance if you dont have the $$$$ to plunk down on it.

If you can swing it, get a 60" ZTR. Other wise get a 48"-60" hydro walkbehind. The 60" ZTR will equal 2 ,48" walkbehinds. Stay clear of MTD brands.
